0:00 Introduction: Aging spots, dark spots, and liver spots
0:13 What causes hyperpigmentation?
3:25 The best remedies for hyperpigmentation
5:43 What to do for hyperpigmentation
6:35 Find out how to increase melatonin!
Today, we’re going to talk about how to get rid of hyperpigmentation. Some people also refer to hyperpigmentation as aging spots, dark spots, or liver spots.
The liver doesn’t actually cause aging spots or liver spots. These spots are caused by too much melanin, which is a skin pigment.
Certain things might cause you to notice more dark spots, including:
• The summer months
• Age
• Diabetes
• Pregnancy
• Birth control
• Hormone replacement therapy
• Stress
A few causes of hyperpigmentation are:
• Excess estrogen
• Excess cortisol
• Excess insulin
Melanin protects against UV and also acts as an antioxidant. It’s actually there to try to counter all of the damage that’s happening to your skin. These dark spots are really an indication that you’re low in vitamin C and other antioxidants.
Tyrosinase is a certain enzyme that’s necessary to make melanin. But there are some interesting natural remedies that can act as tyrosinase inhibitors.
Natural remedies for aging spots, dark spots, or liver spots:
• Cinnamon
• Cocoa bean
• Grape seed extract
• Green tea
• Aloe
• Vitamin C
• Licorice
• Quercetin
• Melatonin
The best things to do to increase your antioxidant levels and get rid of dark spots:
1. Consume raw vegetables and salads
2. Consume foods high in zinc
3. Do fasting
4. Avoid sugar and stress
5. Avoid burning your skin
6. Exercise

@@Hippy2021 Hello there ! my first ever fast ( cold turkey so to speak ) went for twenty one days ! On day five i experienced a profound sense of stoned ness and walked around for an hour looking at the world in a completely different way . Joy levels through the roof ! I drink soda water instead of water because I like the bubbles and you get enough salt ( so no headaches ). My last fast was thirty two days and I probably could have gone sixty days with no problems !!!

@@herbetrono4373 this is GREAT to read but PLEASE please please ALWAYS right that this must be done right by eating CORRECTING BEFORE, DRINKING SUITABLE LIQUIDS FOR ONE'S INDIVIDUAL DURING THE FAST, AND TO BREAK THE FAST! I have known of people fasting for a month to fit into a dress for a wedding or something, and then BREAKING that month long fast with CANDY BARS AND GORGING ON THE FOOD AT THE WEDDING OR PARTY (!!!) - AND THEN NEEDING THEIR STOMACH PUMPED IN A HOSPITAL! SO PLEASE ALWAYS INCLUDE THIS correct eating needed to do longer fasts. PLEASE. Also bubbles may suit you but may irritate someone else, salt can be added to whatever liquid(s) someone decides to drink during their fast. People need to learn to read their body's needs before, during and to end a fast. Not writing this to you to make you stop sharing, NOT at all, just asking you to ALSO include the info re properly eating, drinking during, and how to end a fast and restart eating --- to end a long 21 or 31 day fast one generally SHOULD NOT eat a full meal until a few days of small simple meals have passed (after ENDING the long fast).

Sooo many years, approximately 20 years, I've searched for topical treatments to get rid of the hyperpigmentation on my face. Dark spots took over my face & so many products to combat were bought. I don't wear makeup so I couldn't & didn't want to mask it, I wanted them gone. Not until a few years ago when I began eating raw vegan food, just because I wanted to try something new to get healthier, did I notice an ENORMOUS change in my skin. It was glowing, smoother AND the dark spots disappeared. 😯 I couldn't believe it! The money & time I spent searching for a topical treatment could have gone to foods at my local farmer's market or grocery store. I'm not a vegan nor do I want to become one but I'm an 80%er. Lol. I'm so wowed by what these foods (and eliminating refined sugars, processed & GMO foods) are capable of doing to our bodies.

Sometimes I'm surprised....but mostly....not at the scope of knowledge you bring to the table on these topics. Boy wouldn't it be nice...to say..." In going to see my Primary care doctor today" , and that doctor..would be Dr. Berg...! Endless appreciation for your passion in all topics...of medical knowledge and sharing it with us..! Great video...🙏

Dr Berg!!!!! You have just answered my question of why I have so many spots that have popped up within this last year. Stress!!! I've been under alot of stress this past year. I haven't been in the Sun,no vacations this year. I knew it wasn't just genetics. I will definitely focus on my nutrition to help improve and reduce/eliminate the ones that are there.

OMG, this is why my husband has NO dark spots from the sun! He is in construction and is constantly all day in the sun but he has NO dark spots!!! NEVER uses sun screen, he hates sunscreen! I didn’t know how this was possible as the medical industry tells me the opposite! Now it all makes sense! Thank you Dr Berg! Excellent information!👍🏻

its also to do with genetics and your lifestyle as a baby, my dad has never worn spf, is a heavy drinker and smoker but has the best skin of anyone i know in real life...as a kid he lived by the sea eating oysters and fresh fish everyday...he has better skin than all his children and even strangers comment on it

@@piedpiper1201 I think mental health has alot to do with it aswell. Nowadays theres so much external influence and factors in social media, screentime, technology et cetera. My skin used to be insanely vibrant and glowy, my entire family were always talking about how amazing I looked. Then I developed depression, anxiety, had a lot of stress etc and I started looking like SHIT. Acne, pigmentation, wrinkles etc. Btw back when my skin was amazing I used to eat complete garbage, now I eat way healthier and my skin is nothing like it used to be. Just saying in my experience nutrition isn’t necessarily the key factor.

Some people just have thicker collagen, thanks to their genetics. So bad sun habits will not show up as easily.

Thanks Dr Berg. I spend lots on whitening cream/lotions/serum and facials to remove age spots and it was hopeless. Your teachings opened up my understanding of age spots and will put into practice.

Thank you so much Dr. Berg (as always) for taking the time to share your amazingly informative videos! In this one, does this apply to freckles? When I was a kid I used to have a lot of freckles, but most have dissipated. I even have a freckle in the inside of my eye, but the opthomologist said there's nothing to worry about that, and he would keep monitoring that.
