Fast Spinosaur Taming Guide :: Ark : Survival Evolved Tips and Tricks

Due to an update changing taming times, times and quantity of food mentioned during that section are approximately halved. I've seen a few people comment about the spino escaping or jumping over the trap. The design I suggest in this video is 3x3 with 3 walls high as a minimum size. There are a couple of suggestions I can make to help "debug" the issue 1) Make sure your walls are 3 high! I can't stress this enough because Spinos can walk over walls that are 2 high. 2) If you're still having trouble you may need to make the trap 3x4, extending away from your ramps or increasing the size to 4x4

Fun fact: Spinos apparently spawn in and around the easy starter areas so if you stay in the starter area, you could potentially tame an infinite amount of spinos by using the cliff near the starter area.

The problem with that is that the spin-off has to be stuck or else it will run away

Or you can build a pillar that positions you where if the spino runs away, it will run towards the cliff and get stuck there.

You didn't mention that Spinos do more damage with their bipedal attack, and they will prefer to use this attack if they are fighting while not ridden. They can do this while unridden underwater, it is not possible to use the claw attack underwater while ridden. Also while in bipedal stance, they are capable of turning on the spot by moving the camera, making them relatively agile for something their size. The roar is also purely for show, it has no other effect.

Everything you need to know to tame in the first 5 minutes... perfect... so many videos have too much detail or preparation filler. The rest is great additional info, helpful and informative but I like when a taming video gets to the point.

@ContentDegree58 accross every map? You'd be best served by checking the spawn maps or the wiki. They are amphibious mounts so its generally around the shores and coastlines.

Thanks for the information, I managed to tame my first female lvl 14 spino using reg kibble, simple kibble, cooked prime fish meat, raw fish meat and 30 narcotics. The hunt or tame I should say is over, now the work begins! (Grinding to get enough hides for a saddle lol)

Extra stuff: do not knock out spoons underwater, if you go exploring underwater with a spino don’t jump off since it will swim to the surface of the water so to avoid that you must make it follow you to keep it next to you, but remember the spino can’t breathe underwater

Put a large bear trap inside the trap to give yourself more time to place the final gate

Tip: tapejaras are also useful for taming spinos, I've used a tapejara to cling onto a Cliff to tranq a spino and it worked All i used is a tapejara and good aim

Actually dilo's can interfere with the spino tame, I recently tried a tame and knocked out a spino, it was nearly 70% tamed and den a dilo came by and killed it, so kill any dilo nearby especially wen ur doing your tame in the night

Yes I live in that area in ark but not in the swamps i fly past that spot all the time in ark I live on the map where it looks like Florida I live there and they can also spawn in swamps because I was flying through the swamps to find a beaver dam and I found 5 spinos

If anybody has friends or plays with some and want them to get on the sphino but its one seat just do a glitch. 1.Get on the sphino 2.get of and get on the side 3.now crouch down Now you can ride while having 1 seat. You cannot do this with 4 people on the sides either 3 or 2

a another trap is the stone Dino gateway with a bear trap, you need four gateways place 3 down and put the bear trap in the middle when the spino comes and gets trapped put the last gateway down.

The first spino I ever tamed was a female. Named her Siberia, on the island, on the southern islands but across that river towards the mountain with crystal and metal,but from where I was ya turn left and then there was a cliff,and a lvl 30......34 spino. I got her a saddle and everything. But then i got cocky. And i didnt know that there were two opposite gender Alpha Raptors with a Alpha carno grouped together. And I lost my lvl 87 trike, Siberia and bronto. I was never able to find me another one before I thought my game was being weird,(the disc was dirty.) And it kept freezing and kicking me off all the time. I deleted that save after trying 5 times to get metal for my castrododies saddle. And then i started over. That's when i got my good boi Snippo. A orange & green spino. He was my water dog. And i loved him so so much. But it kept crashing. And i thought it was my saves again. So i deleted them. So, I lost Snippo on the Island. My first ever direwolf on SE(also my first tame on there, beautiful direwolf.) I was upset when i found out it was the disc. But I've started over again an again, and always try to get a spino. They are one of my favorite dinos in general. 1. Velociraptors/Utahraptors 2. Spinosaurus 3. Yutyranus 4. Ankylosaurus 5. Any small feathered dinosaur 6. Tyrannosaurus Rex Sorry for the book length comment...

First attempt - lost my raptor trying to KO the spino Second attempt - lost another raptor I just tamed Third attempt - I got killed by troodons while trying to go home to get narcotic. Respawned and went back, got turned around in the dark and piranhas killed my carno. By the time I got to the spino it was conscious and killed me as I tried to KO it again Time to build a trap. This tame was not worth it 😪

I used a method not shown in this vid, to me, it's the safest method. Just get a crap ton of large bear traps. And to distract the Spino with another dino ( I suggest Argentavis) so you can shoot after its out of the bear trap. After it starts running away I whistle passive on my dino. And pursuit the Spino, after that I feed it prime meat because that works too, but barely, and I used ALOT of narcotics. Then Spino tamed.

I tamed one by shooting it from a nearby cliff. But fist a had to condition the area by killing: a pack of raptors, alpha raptor, and an alpha carno that spawned immediately after killing the alpha raptor.

Just use high level Kapro, its so much easier as it can makes Spino unable to sprint, so you don't have to worry about it running away, as well as having easier time kiting it on foot

So, I am in an ark solo world and I have unlocked stone builds and haven't moved out of my old thatch house. Still, I know where a Spino is, me being me, I am going to try the pillar technique and knock it out using a slingshot or tranq arrows in a normal bow. It is going to take a pretty long time.

These are great methods to tame a spino, but I want to share how I tamed my level 110. I stood on my quetzal platform and fired shocking tranqs into it from above until it was knocked out. Didn't even bring spiked walls. I used my assault rifle and quetzal to kill anything hostile.

If did this first do a video of taming baryonyx it may be slow but if you but 20 or higher health then you can use a baryonyx to tame it isn’t a good idea?
