@crdriscoll1

I use Alex Flex paintable white caulking fast dry. Usually caulk just the top side of your moldings and have a clean wet rag handy with a small bucket of water to rinse the rag out. Once you apply the caulking with the caulk gun take and wet your finger index usually just moist not dripping and run it across the area you did with the caulk gun in both directions cleaning your finger off often to keep it from making a wide caulk joint. Hope this help’s.. This is if you are painting the molding. If you are staining it or want it natural then really don’t need to caulk.

The baseboard never matches the quarter round, the quarter round never matches the caulk. Any advice you can give me so I’m not installing all this and then having to have to repaint everything?
@crdriscoll1
@crdriscoll1 Жыл бұрын
Great question most trim is only primed. Giving that it will almost always show a difference in the Spackling to fill nail holes or even caulking. I always run my finger down the caulk line and then wipe with wet clean rags to minimize the (squeezing out effect) of the caulking and run that rag right over the nail holes. That may make the colors less noticeable but use like a 23 gage nail gun and that leaves a very needle size nail hole that almost invisible to the naked eye. Hope this will help some. Thanks for watching and commenting

Unpainted caulking will collect dirt and discolor over time. I like to put a coat of paint on trim before I install and then a quick touch up coat after caulk and putty dries.

@crdriscoll1
@crdriscoll1 2 жыл бұрын
Depending on how big the gap is will depend on what you can do. You could add some trim stock at the bottom of the door casings if you have like 1x4 trim but if you have Basic door casing trim it has a curve to it you may be able to find using a caulking that matches close to the color floor could help take the Eyes away from it. But again it really depends on how big the gap is.

Great question, the Quarter round that I am using in this current video is actually PVC and that cut super easy with the miter snips but they will cut wood also just definitely got to have some good hand strength to chop through solid oak. I bought myself one of the cordless 20 V Dewalt chop saws that thing is super light weight and really does a great job with the shadow line instead of a laser line on the blade it is spot on every time but to answer your question yes it will cut oak.
