Hey guys I want to say I had to remove some footage due to a copyright issue playing the radio in the background so I apologize about some missing specs and info.

Gorgeous, breath taking bike. No argument there. But for 40 grand I think I'll just stick with the Special.

Road Glider I can't disagree honestly, It's takes a special breed to be able to fork the cash for these awesome machines. I know I couldn't do it.

Road Glides are still way underrated. I’m convinced a Street Glide buyer would change their mind if they road 500 miles on a Road Glide. Wish the CVOs were $35kish.

Not a big fan of black bikes, but that color is killer! I think that fairing is much better than the Street Glide. Great coverage in the cold. Big honkin air dams to open when it's hot. Those handlebars off the tiller gotta go though. Put the Street Glide bars on it and she's a winner. Even a little flap to keep a pistol should you need to scare a bear while you crap in his woods.

Brian Cruise yeah I love it and I am always nervous riding CVO's. Everytime. I'd hate for someone to pull out on me or something happen while riding any of these motorcycles that don't belong to me. Especially a 2018 CVO

The Road Glide weighs well north of 900 lbs. when filled up with fluids. Empty weight doesn't count when out riding.
@fastjax7 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah? I don't know fluid your using. But the advertised weight is 849lbs. The weight in complete running order is 884 pounds. Which IS NOT well over 900 pounds. So you can count whatever you'd like but your wrong.
@jalan97006 жыл бұрын
Hey Bob, ummm, don't know how to inform you of this, but the only fluid not accounted for when giving spec weight is fuel, or in dum terms gasoline. So with 6 gallon tank you're only adding 37.8 lbs. Putting the bike at around 886 lbs. Filled up. That's NOT well north of 900lbs. And further , if you were wondering, no they don't count rider weight to bike spec weight.

Looks like one side vent is closed and the other is open. I find this affects handling.
@fastjax7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I open one sometimes when I want a little airflow, not all of it. I dont find that it affects any handling nor do I understand how it could. mind if I ask why you say that? I'm curious. thanks
@gghostrrider7 жыл бұрын
Fast-Action Jax I find that the bike feels more planted in turns when the vents are open. When I have one open and one closed it feels a little unbalanced, I could be reaching. The best way I can describe it, is like when you ride in the car on the freeway and one window is down and the other is up and you get annoying buffeting. So maybe it doesn't affect handling it just annoys me and gets into my head, and it feels like my curves are less smooth.

branding is a hell of a drug. the CVO shouldnt be more than $25k and the special should be a $15k bike. props to Harley for getting top dollar.
@fastjax7 жыл бұрын
Lasnoe cost if Harley sold this bike for 25k they'd be losing money on it, which I know for a fact. They have more than that in it, I want the Kawasaki H2 to be $15k as well ;)
@kylemoore96267 жыл бұрын
Have you see the prices of new bikes lately? The specials are right in the middle of the pack as far price on a touring bike, that new bmw is 25 grand, the grand America version of it is 30. The new Yamaha is 30 grand, Indians are 24-30 grand too. The difference with the HD is you get that awesome dealer network, and the resale value of their bikes are much better. Does Harley have it’s issues? Do I wish they had more power stock? Do I wish they were a little better value? Yes to all of those, but I wouldn’t say they are overpriced. I do think they should come With about 30% more power and have a couple different riding maps and maybe a few more features from the factory, but they have half of the US market to themselves. Obviously what they’re doing is working for them. I ride a 2017 Road Glide btw.
@Lasnoe7 жыл бұрын
Warmachine762 Im in the market for a road glide. Especially the 2018 specials all blacked out. it is about a 5k mark up to basically get the black version of your normally chromed out bits. I believe in HD's catalog chrome or black bits are sold at the same price. I agree with a lot of what you said. it's just when you get into mid to high twenties or in the case of the CVOs the low 40's you have to look at what other motorcycle companies are offering before you commit to purchasing one. I want a RG. my mind was basically made up. the 2018 specials and CVOs came out and I was all in. but for that price I had to check out competitors and for the engineering and offerings brought to you by the K1600 and the new Goldwing I couldn't help but have second thoughts. I'm just venting basically, but I am describing my experience and how value provided by other manufacturers has caused me to second think this purchase or at the very least postpone it. cheers
@kylemoore96267 жыл бұрын
Lasnoe i was pretty disappointed they raised the price of the 18 special over the 17. I have a 17 RGS I paid 24 for it. I believe the 18 specials are almost 28 iirc. It’s a great bike I love it, the bmw could possibly win me over but I doubt it, I’m sure it’s a great bike but I wouldn’t give up my Harley for one. I’d have to have both hah. I love the look and feel of a Harley, and I love big twins. That’s just me though, I don’t fault you for test riding the others. I checked out other bikes but I’m a Harley guy. Let me know what you end up with! The new gold wing is probably lame like the old gold wing haha I’d go look at the BMW.
@DJGENOTYPE5 жыл бұрын
Nothing would make me believe any bone costs 40k. Especially bikes with little to no tech compared to other bikes like the Goldwing or K1600. Great marketing on HDs part. Can’t knock their hustle.

40 grand for an underpowered motorcycle is ridiculous. I could get a Civic Type R for that price and run circles around this block

if your spending 40k on a honda civic I'd be questioning your judgement just as much bruhh

Harley Davidson interested in short term profit is evident ,[ perhaps it helps management bonuses before retirement ] in preference to their customers and quality, proof, they introduce a new range of 2018 CVO Street and Road Glides without the advanced twin cooled engine saving them big money in production costs. The result is them having to increase the cubes to 117 to match the previous Twin cooled power output [check the data] but then only at ambient temperatures but with less power with the effect of heat, The result of the Twin cooled engine is/was sustained power, increased torque and longevity. Inexplicably Harley then hike the price $2000+ for less rather than reduce it. Oh!! forgot the extra two $10 speakers. Harley buyers must be totally dumb, well Harley must think so.
@kylemoore96267 жыл бұрын
easyglide everything you said about the twin cooled motor is false. The 110 twin cooled bikes have water cooled heads for rider comfort only, it’s not for more power, it says it right in the manual. They have half a point higher compression ratio than the 103 does, and they have a little more torque but it does not have substantially more horsepower, it has a bigger torque curve though. The architecture of the M8 allows them to make the motor 117 cubes with stroke and the bore. If you layed the torque curve of the 117 over the 110 you would see the 117 has a much fatter curve. The M8 doesn’t make Much more peak power stock over the twin cams but the torque curve is far broader, you can lug an M8 down to1800 Rpm and it doesn’t care it’ll keep running smooth, the twin cam doesn’t like to be below 2200.
@easyglide3017 жыл бұрын
Warmachine, Yes I take your point about the 110 they were without the water-cooled heads were introduced a very hot ride, but I was referring to the 114 M8 motor on the 2017 model. I have owned and taken big trips on both 110 and 114 CVO's and liked them both.
