A few times a week I listen to asmr in the car on the way home from work to decompress and relieve some stress. And on Sunday I get off a little after or at 4 and listen to your video on the way home. In fact I’m sitting in the driveway writing this comment after getting home from work lol. Have a great vacation, you deserve it!

In Indian communities, we feed a sweet item to the person that requires luck! Not too sure why, but it’s done before an important interview, exams, etc. Usually, it’s something like kheer, sweet rice or another Indian dessert. 💕✨

In portuguese (Brazil), we say "cruzando os dedos", which would translate as "crossing [the] fingers". As for "knock on wood", we have "bate na madeira" - it means the same.

I’m starting to realize it IS a bit a little bit about what you say. I kinda like hearing about what you have to say, whether it be answering questions, story-time, good news, etc. It’s calming in a way.

In Italy we say finger cross 🤞"incrociamo le dita" or for knock on wood we say touching iron "toccando ferro"
@radhikamalhotra5650
@radhikamalhotra5650 Жыл бұрын
In India, we do cross our finger's but it is used when someone is lying, so they would secretly cross their fingers while lying. For wishing luck we would just verbally wish them luck or if you want to know something more traditional, we would have a spoon of curd with sugar on top before leaving the house. This practice is mainly followed when we have a big exam or an interview etc. (P.S, I am a North Indian, some of the traditional practices varies across regions).

There is a pretty specific one in Scottish, North English and Manx folklore (particular for Scottish Hogmanay) regarding "the first-foot"; basically the first person to enter your house on New Year's Day should be a tall male who was not already in the house upon the strike of midnight and should bring gifts, usually whisky and shortbread.
@asterismos5451
@asterismos5451 Жыл бұрын
My family does this but generally fairly half-assed XD. My dad is often made to first-foot my grandma because he's tall and dark-haired and we sometimes get my uncle over first. Anyone visiting is made to pick up a stick from the ground and "gift" that, as it symbolizes fuel.

In America it's very normal to congratulate a pregnant woman before she gives birth? I'd say most of the cards in the "baby shower" section of the Hallmark aisle say congratulations. In Germany/other countries where you don't do that, do people have baby showers? 😅
