Our FastCharge battery-powered train has been out on the network undergoing some final tests ahead of a trial which could transform the UK’s railway.

I am very interested in the progress being made with these trains and hopefully success, unfortunately this video did not satisfy. It was just a brief selection of speeded up clips with an irritating music track, so a total waste of time and whatever you paid for its production. How about showing the train at normal speed, with the actual train sounds. A view of the charging facility with appropriate narrative would be appreciated.

And the video is over-saturated and repetitive. You'd think a company like GWR would have better quality control!

I remember the old D78s when they first came out. They looked pretty flashy back then, but if you'd told me where they'd end up in 2024, I wouldn't have believed a word of it. Great job, and congratulations to everyone on every stage of this journey.

This is all very promising and could be very useful on branch lines. Charging in Motion as used on Birmingham trams and trolleybuses elsewhere could extend railway electrification on lightly used lines. I think that the Marston Vale line trains were diesel powered.

Yay the District line D78 Stock class 230 runs on the gwr EDIT: am i the only one who notice that they brought back the guard thing on the london underground from 24 years ago on the GWR class 230 D78 stock it say crew

I think this is an excellent idea for all the Thames Valley & Cornish branches. I really do hope it’s a success. Well done to GWR for securing some of the Vivarail stuff.

We lose the hst end of the year and this is new stock (probably not the same trip but come on) come on gwr make your customers happy because im not a fan of ironing board seats and dont forget firstgroup also owns lumo which can have good seats. Privatisation is a joke

Only the Greenford Branch. It’s part of trial to showcase, prove and mature the fast charge technology. After that if it successful who knows? Hopefully the beginning of a rollout of the technology.

Darn the D Stock has gone a long way, operating from the 70s, having its final trip from 2017, getting refurbished for a specific operator and now it’s being battery powered?! Times gone a long way.

Merseyrail were the first to operate battery EMUs in the UK in regular non-trail service.

It's so good to see eletrification finally arrive at the railways! If only they would find a way to continuously charge the train... IDK maybe some kind of overhead line providing continuous power...
