Good job coach! You are an inspiration to push further. I'm on a similar setup (F4 Slalom Foil / SB X-15 78 / NP RS Flight EVO IV) and also try to improve my top speed. I consistently get to 47/48 kmh with my light wind setup (660/105+5/210 + 6.7m) but I feel I could break 50 kmh with my higher wind setup that I haven't had the chance to push last season (540/100FR/190 + 5.7m). Let's see next summer. Anything over 45 kmh still feels really fast. 🔥

Hi Julien, Thank you! That's great to hear! You have the perfect equipment for high speeds and I absolutely agree that anything above 45 km/hr feels and is really fast. Use caution! I think it's even scary, but I must say you'll get used to it after a few times. With your light wind setup it should already be possible to break 50km/hr if you have the right conditions and are sailing at the right angle (approximately 40-45 deg of the wind for me). The FR100 fuselage might also be better for speed as it will give you more control at high speeds. It will be a bit harder at low speed but as soon as you'll go faster it will most likely be easier for you. Just give it a try next time. I usually try to build up my speed session gradually by pushing a little harder on each run so I can slowly get used to the feeling and the speed. Keep us posted and... See you on the water!!!

@@Windsurfcoach Thank you for taking the time to answer to every comment, It's very generous of you. You are right, it's possible to break the 50 kmh with the 660, it just seems easier with a smaller wing, the 660 being quite powerfull for my 70 kg. In comparison, I've tried the 560 in underpowered conditions (about 15-17 kts) and I felt much more in control at 45 kmh than with the 660. The water is starting to freeze here in Québec, Canada so we will see next season. Julien

@@juliendufresne-gervais3300 any time!!! True! You can feel the smaller wing have far less drag especially at higher speeds. My weight was during the video around 65kg so I absolutely know what you mean. You live in a beautiful country, but those cold winters ....... Next year you're gonna break that 50 km/hr on the foil!! Keep us posted and... See you on the water!!!

Great follow-up.Hoping to get a new PB soon. Previously when using the 650 and 725 front I was always on the 9.0. Recently started running smaller sails and it's way less stressful...glad to see you're on a 6.0. For now, foil glides will have to do.

Hi @aeroegnr, great to hear, thank you. Chasing speed can be pretty addictive I've noticed as well. 650 and 725 front wings are pretty nice sizes to do some speed runs on and concerning the sail sizes.... Every sail has a window in which it will function optimal, so once out of that window it's faster to switch down a size to go faster. Happy speed hunting and... See you on the water!!

Congratulations with the new PB. Looking forward to your follow up, to reach 55 km/h. Maybe you should try with the 420 sqcm frontwing. I have both the 560 and 420 frontwings from F4, and the 420 Wing is faster when the setup is stable and balanced. My PB is 52,0 km/t, with the F4 420 and Neilpryde V8 Flight 6.0 sqm. But the conditions and stability was not optimal, so there is a huge potential to get higher speed. Br, Ove (Norway)

Hi @OveSteinsland, Thank you! It felt great. I was hoping I could use the F4 420 but the wind started out too light so I had to go for the 560. The F4 560 is a really nice and comfortable wing especially on those days with changing wind conditions as it has quite a big operating window with a great speed potential but I know the 420 is faster so I'm also keen on giving it a go in the next episode of FASTER. Like you say conditions and stability are absolute key factors when trying to break records. My homespot is pretty far inland and surrounded by trees and therefore very gusty so also actually not the ideal location...... In Norway it will be pretty cold by now I'm afraid. Hoping you can get a few good days this winter and just maybe break your PB. You have a great foil for it. I just love that foil. See you on the water!

Question about your harness lines : Do you feel that 40 is enough? I'm looking for a new set (I currently have the Severne 28-34 and I'm always at 34 and it's way too short in the gusts). I was looking at Point 7 like yours but I hesitate between sizes 34-40 and 38-44. Any recommandations? Thanks. Julien

@Windsurfcoach 8 ай бұрын
Hi Julien, You absolutely need those long harness lines if you want to go fast and stay in control! For me the 34-40 Point-7 lines are just fine and I like them, but for speedfoiling 38-44 will be better. I'm not the tallest guy and still feel I could use an extra inch or 2 when really pushing. I do use the 34 inch as well in light winds so a bigger range would be even better. You can also look at Patrik boards & Lisa windsurfing as they have lines with a bigger range. Let me know what you have decided on and ..... See you on the water!!!

Use a smaller foil.

Hi Hadden67, you're absolutely right and it will be the next step in pushing for 55+ I have the 420 frontwing for that and that one will be perfect for the job. The only thing I'm not looking forward to are the possible crashes at those speeds. As you know 1 little mistake or plastic bag in the water at those speeds really make an impact..... See you on the water!

Great follow up coach - do you always keep your back foot in the straps on speed runs? what harness lines do you use ?
@Windsurfcoach
@Windsurfcoach 9 ай бұрын
Hi @fleetwoodmarine, Thank you, nice to hear. Yes, I always keep both feet in the straps during speed runs and only shift my weight forward or back to maintain my ride height. That's why I trim for high speed. That way I have full control at top speed and will be able to go faster. I use the @point7 34-40 inch lines especially made for windfoiling. Great stuff! See you on the water!!
