It's a shame that BT and Australian track team ended their partnership. It would have been cool to see what models they would have out now if they continued RnD working alongside the team. They haven't released a new model in ages, but they still hold up.

It must be about time that the Derny's get replaced with electric versions. How many watts are the 180 wheels saving over about 80's and why aren't they liked? There's not a real lot of wind to contend with on an indoor velodrome.

This question is asked at lot. These derny's are well maintained and are run on a specialist Alkylate, low smoke, low hydrocarbon fuel, so fumes and environmental impact is reduced. Yes, eMotorcycles are used more and more now for Keirin pacing where only one Derny is required, but for other sessions and particularly Derny racing, you would be using as many as eight machines simultaneously. With eDerny costs of around £10,000 each, this is untenable, and this is before we consider the charging infrastructure to charge them simultaneously and safely. There are equally lots of riders and spectators that the love the spectacle and tradition of these machines.
