I now know that this is a feature in the game and not a glitch, sorry I didn’t know. Also this isn’t something new and people have already done this a while ago. I’m saying this now so that everyone knows that I am aware that this isn’t a glitch. I hope y’all understand and thank you all for liking and watching this video, this video blew up and it has made me really happy :)

Fun fact, if you look in the save file for the game "mh=1" means you died to mr hippo and haven't heard his full story yet, meaning it'll play when you load up the game again. If you edit it back to "mh=0" and load the game, no more long story :D

Scott couldn’t work around the clickteam fusion shortcuts though, so you can press CTRL+S to mute the audio. Since the game is set to wait until the audio ends before moving on, this will skip the cutscene

It's not actually a glitch. Mr. Hippo's humorously long tangent is meant to be listened to all the way through because you can't skip it, and attempting to exit out of the game sets a flag in the game's files that automatically take you to the game over screen so that Mr. Hippo's line begins to play. It's pretty annoying when you're trying to complete the game but at least he has a soothing voice.

From the Development side of view it makes sense why you get a 0:00:00 time. Mr Hippo kills you which runs a script that saves the fact of him speaking. If you skip it the game remembers that and loads the new scene with the score. But since you didn't die in game you had 0 score to start with. Therefore it said 0:00:00.

I was once playing UCN at my fathers work, it wasn’t that busy so I used the main office computer to play, a customer walked inside as soon as I loaded up the game and pressed Start, he told me to jump off because he needed to use the computer, before I could ALT-F4 I got jumpscared by Mr Hippo…….

Technically it isn't without using this tactic. The game records the time spent in game while the jumpscare flag is off. Since he is restarting the game, it'll say 0.00 because the gameplay isn't recorded and saved. Easy fix to it is to save the time in file and clear it once the person hits the menu (with the condition of Mr. Hippo Storytime Flag being set to 1 [true])

I was confused until you said Mr Hippo, then suddenly a memory from 2018 hit me where Markiplier is playing UCN on stream and chat tells him about Mr Hippo, he wants to hear them all and the first repeat story he just alt+f4s the game, only to find himself still listening to Mr Hippo upon restarting the game, thankfully though it does randomize the story so it wasn't for nothing. I love that Scott did that, and that you end up with the worst possible survival time if you do try to escape it lol

I've played the game on PS4. Try exiting out of the game when he does his speech, quit the game as soon as he jumpscares you, neither will work. He'll still do his speech. No one can escape Mr. Hippo. NO ONE.
