Fastest FPV in the World. 502kmh / 312mph

Jet Turbine powered FPV plane reaching 502kmh / 312mph on it's maiden. The engine cut out from suspected fuel starvation due a fuel pipe being pushed flat by the air pressure . The main tank was almost empty, but the air/trap/bubble tank was still full when it landed. This problem will be solved and we will try again, expecting somewhere closer to 550kmh. Airframe: Vasa Fusion. Engine: Lambert Kolibri T50. Thanks to Joe Harvey for the great help on the maiden and this awesome edit / RiVR.uk !

I have a strange request...Please can you design a 3d printed ornithopter that we can all build...please...maybe candle powered stirling engine / compressed air or something crazy to tickle your inventiveness hahah.. There are just no RC ornithopters and you are the man that could make that happen! They are so enjoyable to fly / watch, but just simply aren't available for sensible money.

Glad to see young Padwan doing better than master hahaha :) One suggestion, use high power video transmitter, and High gain Patch Antenna on your video goggles, and some good module like Foxeer Rapid Fire. one omni and one patch antenna on that. and you can get a solid video signal up to 6km far. Then you can push some serious speeds. just keep your head pointing in right direction so patch is looking at aircraft. Would love to see how long it would take this jet to go and come back 5km :) keep up the good work.

because of the odd rules we have he can take that up to 1000Ft in the uk using FPV and a spotter, we used to be able to do so with multirotor but not anymore

Yeah Bruce, was a bit disappointed tbf lol! I actually was though, this should see closer to 550kmh level. Bit of a dive and some downwind...600kmh? Would be nice! I am kind of expecting some hassle from this, but i'm not hiding numbers on the OSD. I want people to enjoy seeing the numbers and what is going on. There is no calibration to any of these OSD's though, so it could never be considered 'evidence' in a court it could have been over-layed afterwards. We fly safe, we plan and think. We observe the airspace around us, we don't fly over houses or other people. We have permission to be there. That is it, that is all there needs to be. If only the regulators could think the same... @@OMEGOOLIEBIRD Yep, don't worry mate... plans are afoot to "re-educate" regulators and make them aware that they appear to be regulating out of existance, the one part of aviation that has proven over many decades to be safer than any other. Flights like yours simpy add further proof to the claim that there is nothing to fear from the hobby and much to be gained fostering rather than fettering it.

Thanks Wayne! I wasn't too sure myself, the glide slope was steep to keep the airspeed up and the alpha down for max efficiency. Just stretched it burning off the residual energy. Probably my most scary landing ever hahah! Down safe though, so more to come. Each flight will be a bonus, it won't live long, the landings are a gamble!

I can and can't believe you did that flight with FPV. I had mine go out of range and lost the screen. Was the scariest feeling and panic knowing I would have to remove my headset and try to find my plane. Luckily I kept mine on and was able to get signal back. I would be affraid of yours goings so fast and covering ground and reaching the limits of range within seconds. Balls of steel!

Yes, going out of range is a factor! I tend to do speed runs from far out and flying home, so the range is getting shorter. Just had to do what I had to do on this flight though!

Thanks Dave! It was gusty and horribly bumpy. It was a cross wind landing in the shear layer caused by the crops being higher than the runway. The landing was all over the place lol! In flight was ok because the forward speed was so dominant.

@@Shreyam_io thanks mate, yes its foam but not any foam. Its multiplex's hardest elapor foam. Only the ultra uses this foam, the regular funjet 2 is exactly the same as the ultra 2 exept its higher density foam in the ultra 2, they are even molded in the same mold. The plane was sprayed with 3m super 77 glue and then laminated with 75micron photo laminating film. The only reinforcment other than the stoch wing spar is a solid carbon arrowshaft burryed and epoxyed in the bottom inside along the whole fuselage length. And its good for atleast 19G turns with a a 682 gram lipo in its nose. Without the arrowshaft the nose would break off in midair

Thanks bro! The OSD tells me where home is. But we did several reconnaissance flights with other slower planes first to get well used to the general area and name the obvious landmarks and places to avoid, wind features etc. Once you have a few key features, just keep an eye on at least one of them at all times, it's ok.

Might last longer than the 2 previous fpv turbine flights I’ve seen so far. Don’t think they had the right airframes for the speed potential of yours, but a Z2 and Big Drak did make good attempts. Should have this one around a while, seems pretty well dialed in on the top end.

The DS thing is suggested a lot...but latency is a huge issue at these speeds, so being close to the ground, or flying a tight line is near impossible, as the latency can represent 50-100 metres. So by the time you saw the rock, the plane would be buried in the ground 50m further on lol! Also, the picture would be sky for 50% of the time doing the loops, so you just wouldn't be able to fly a tight enough line to get the kind of DS speeds that would beat this turbine.
