For flights at a cruise speed of 100 km/h, what prop motor would you recommend? taking into account that 21700 current will be up to 35-40A.

How many volts? It isn't my area of knowledge at 100kmh.. but that said, you would get enormous range at that speed with the Fusion.. it would only need about 3a at 15v to go that fast lol!

@@OMEGOOLIEBIRD 4s. oh, I forgot to say I have a funjet ultra, not fusion. In the current setup Turnigy D2826-6 2200kv 6x5.5 and 4s li-ion at full throttle I have a consumption of 18A and about 110km per hour.

Man oh man any info on what went wrong with the throttle stick.. issues/signs to look out for?

It was just a loose indent ratchet on the throttle stick, so once I had launched, the throttle stick fell down! I tighten them up a bit now, and it has never happened again .i only had one other failure which was esc/battery not plugged in properly and the motor cut out. But other than those 2x incidents, it has been a 100% reliable launch method.

Approx 36mm x60mm in-runner motor @ around 1900kv, like HET Typhoon or something similar, 200a ESC, 3000mah 6s and a Speedline 7x7 Prop. The will do 200-220mph.

It is just a DC clamp meter, clamped over the positive power cable from the battery to the ESC.

Thanks David! I have yet to fly it again! Always too busy or weather bad.. it is just such a scary thing to fly! Yes stall is around 60k which makes it very difficult to find a decent spot to fly it with enough smooth grass. The glide slope is very shallow and fast, and the plane gets very unstable as it approaches 60k! I will fly it again one day! Thanks for your comment!

0:11 I calculated the diameter, number of blades and frequency and came up with about 42000rpm. Those blades' tips were going over 800mph. That's supersonic!

Wow thanks for the calcs! Yes, it was quite clear to hear that they were supersonic when we ran the motor that day, the noise was astonishing! That motor threw the prop off in the air and destroyed the back of the plane, motor, ESC and battery!... it did manage to land safely and was rebuilt with 740kv motor, and a stronger 7x14 prop and achieved 509kmh. If you look through my videos you will see the thumbnail with FPV goggles with googley eyes on, that is the run.

It's got 40+km range on the FPV gear, it's the battery that hasn't! at 400kmh it only has about 25 seconds in the tank, and enough left for landing!

I don't really use ecalc as there are so many assumptions and holes in the input data than are unmeasured, that I don't really value the output. I only use a quick prop tip speed estimator during the build, and use flight results to progress from there. It would be hard to calculate a true CD with so little data.@@wololo10

Hi Bud, yes made a few changes. Reduced the volume of the canopy a bit, shaved the strips off the sides of the fuselage. Also, some extra carbon tubes in the wings and carbon strips in the elevons.

No, it is the actual speed, around 120mph with fresh cells, drops to about 100mph by the end of the pack. It really is this mental to fly lol!

@@brandonw987 I think it is because of how fast it turns compared to a foam plane, it makes it look faster. It certainly feels fast when flying it! I'm getting a bit more confident with it, so will probably do another video at some point.

Your military do that already, this is nothing new. They have been killing people with drones since drones were a invented. It is most likely the reason they were even invented in the first place. But it is the fastest amateur built one.. and has no payload surplus to carry any kind of warhead.

Wow, thanks for the great comment! The best outcome for producing a video is inspiring someone else to have a go! I fly with goggles now, but have flown from a TV screen before in the back of my van. The screen is good, but there was a little more delay in the video that with the goggles.

Because I'm not sure how my eyesight is going to handle a set of goggles, I may start out with a cheapie pair goggle with diversity, DVR that can also be used as a monitor. That way I can fly LOS in the beginning and review the DVR until my confidence is high enough to give it a go with goggle only? Thank you again so much for your reply. There are still many good human being still walking the face of this Earth. And from what I could tell with your setup of the Spitfire video, you are one of them. I'm here in the States across the pond. The Great State of Confusion, Maryland. Annapolis Maryland to be exact. I live on a sailboat. I have for the past 23 years. Limited room for this Hobby. Hi again set mine up powered but after 6 failed launches have to rethink things . I’m used to plank type models from slope over the yrs and one or two powered but this is a little frustrating lve been launching over corn fields so no damage at all. My question is from where did you measure your CG from and what was the measurement , mine was at 22 then 20mm from the wing root not the little v shaped moulding. Also did you put any thrust angle into the motor mount ? Thanks

Have you got any static up elevator set? it needs 3-4mm of 'reflex'.. so when the stick is in the middle, there is a bit of up elevator. It's critical.

Sorry only just seen this. Yes l have ( reflex) about 3mm . I have now had several successful flights flys well , very nimble very fast could do with being larger for LOS gets very small very quickly. Can see why it’s a good fpv that is never a issue 😅

Struggling with money lately because my car needs a lot of maintenance plus the recent heatwaves in Jordan haven't been helping either... Manufacturer suggestion.. You can do what you want though! It is sensible to have 250 watt max, but it will take much more.. however landings become faster and too much power (1.5kw+) and the airframe will bend.. Incredible airframe though, even with 100 watts it would still be amazing to fly.

THIS IS NOT INNOVATION. ANYONE...I MEAN ANYONE... CAN DESIGN THIS KINDA CONFORMITY GUIDED CRAFT. You have to hold a paper plane folding contest next. That's the EQUIVALENT to this. A fast motor system onto any jet shaped craft can reach these speeds.

Because it's going 140 metres a second..It is all about reliability. With a DJI digital system, the re-connect time from signal loss, this thing will have travelled one and a half kilometers further away! 1.3 ghz might be grainy, but it will hold signal for 20+kilometers and there is no reconnect time.
