Look how many players folks would consider "old heads" are in this list. Kinda destroys the entire argument about older basketball and the players that played then were "less talented" and "less athletic." These lists are raw numbers, no spin. What would be fascinating (but a ton of work) would be to see how many shot attempts it took to get there. That would allow a cross reference that might add some credence to the idea of people who "don't pass." If you add to that, how many made baskets were 3-pointers, that might be eye-opening as well, because there are multiple players on this list that are big men, and multiple people on the list that played in a league when there was no 3 point line. That is even more impressive. I do agree with another poster that said Wilt definitely belongs in the GOAT conversation, and I am a Jordan guy. But I do recognize those that belong in that discussion, including those like Bird, Kobe, and LeBron.

Its such a skewed comparison. NBA players from previous decades faced tougher defensive rules and a more physical game, requiring them to fight harder for every point. In past eras, hand-checking was allowed, giving defenders a significant advantage by permitting physical contact to control offensive players. Additionally, there was no defensive three-second rule, which allowed teams to just live in the paint, making it more challenging for these perimeter players to drive to the basket. Modern rule changes favor offensive freedom, with stricter restrictions on defensive contact and spacing rules that open the floor, making scoring much easier compared to the past.

MJ is the GOAT 🐐 ...this one stat as great as it is doesn't even do him justice, the total amount of other existing advanced stats is incredible...assists, steals, 30pnt streaks, blocks, mvps, fmvps, rebounds, championships, scoring avg etc.. 🏅🏆🥇
@jasonnelson662415 күн бұрын
How about 40, 50, 50 and 70 point games. Wilt holds all those plus rebounding and has mvps. Looks like Jordan will be number 2 again.

@@jasonnelson6624 Wilt was a Giant before his time. Only guy who stopped him was Bill Russell. So, to see MJ placed in second shows how crazy that is because he's a PG/SG in a modern and tough environment...not a 7' Giant playing with kids. Third, MJ's other stats in terms of POs, Rings, etc just beats about anybody else.
@jasonnelson662415 күн бұрын
@@shengwu6044 if Wilt was a giant what was the other 7 footer? Or Swede Halbrook at 7'3? While I understand your point Jordan was hardly small. Plus the fact that traditionally sg and SF have been the scorers. Usually only great centers lead their teams. Last point Russell never stopped Wilt. Russell's team won and at no time was their win because of him. Since when did the NBA show preferential treatment for smaller players? Might as well say spud Webb or muggsy bouges was the GOAT. Notice both of them were in the 90's no player that small could make it in the 60-70's.

MORE and MORE unathletic guys are playing the game because the game is SOFT Defense is in an ALL time LOW because centers cant even jump.. @ I did that’s why I know you’re wrong.. Google the average height of centers when Wilt played.
@jasonnelson662413 күн бұрын
@@albryant-b7k you claimed Wilt was bigger than everyone else. A flat out lie. Only one year he was tallest. Every other year their was players taller than him. No different than today's nba. 6'10 to 6'11 has always been the average for NBA centers. Maybe some years 6'9-6'8. But again thats a small difference. There was no 5'3 or 5'5 players like we saw in the 90's. This narrative of Wilt only playing slow white midget plumbers is insulting and wrong.
