Thank you, this is a great video that come just in time for what I was looking. I have many years of experience as security engineer working in the DC with many security products such as CP, Cisco and lately Palo Alto. I have been working in n the cloud for some PAN VM series firewalls but I don’t have the cloud experience to know the ins / out of both AWS and Azure to figure my way out how all comes into places. I have been struggling which way to advance my cloud security knowledge and I was trying to match with what most jobs are looking in a candidate, and I didn’t know how to go about doing it. It didn’t not make sense to me to start from the beginning, and way my work up but I don’t have the skills they are looking n those jobs such as automation, scripting, etc. It did not make sense to me to throw my years of experience and switch to other roles such as solutions architect (to make it worth while) but I don’t have the depth of knowledge / experience for those type of roles. So your suggested path, I think it will make much more sense and I think I can see my self achieving all those skills and certs within a year time, so thank you. Just a specific question: 1. There are specialized networking certs for the cloud and what’s your opinion about those certs. I think knowing networking is also important to do security and if you have any suggesting (AWS and azure) 2. I see that there is a shift towards devsecops as well in the industry and I am wondering if cloud security engineers are also expected to fill those roles as well.

@DanaT-l7s Жыл бұрын
You never fail to hit the big points! Certifications are good to get past HR, but practical experience is key to not only getting hired but also becoming an asset. Hiring and Program managers will usually ask practical application questions that can't be answered with A, B, or C. Do those projects for hands-on skill and never stop developing yourself.

This is the kind of information people really need to hear. Too many people want to be a "trainer" and make money selling courses to show people how to pass an exam. There is not enough information to help people understand which certs and why they should focus on to map their career out.

Question. I found your videos and they have given me exactly what I was looking for. A cost effective path that is straight to the point. I’ll be learning exactly what I need and no filler. My question is though that when I’ve asked around the community people have said the Google certifications are not really recognized in the community. I remember you saying you did as well attend a University. I’m sure you’ve been in a hiring position by now….Is this true? Will it make getting a job harder? Are employers going to want more and not take these certs seriously? If anyone has done one of these pathways solely and have experience with getting into the job I would like to hear from you as well!
@UnixGuy Жыл бұрын
I post weekly success stories of individuals from all over the world who followed my roadmaps, so it works. I wouldn’t worry about ‘recognised’. The skills you learn are ‘recognised’. Also, the google cert is the beginning of you journey, you will be doing a lot more stuff afterwards

Thank you for providing this insightful video. I aspire to pursue a career as a Cloud Security Engineer, despite not having a formal degree or background in IT. While I appreciate the roadmap you've laid out, I'm concerned about the relevance of CompTIA Security+ certification for HR screening. Could you please give your view on whether HR departments typically require this certification when considering candidates for roles like mine? Thank you for sharing your expertise and guidance.

@@UnixGuy Your sincere and caring approach shines through every video; there’s a clear difference between you and the rest who make similar videos. Your ability to create a roadmap for beginners, and show them clarity on how to achieve their career goals and skills acquisition from a recruiter perspective is second to none. This is why I said what I said 🙏🏾.

I have been following all your videos so well explained and exactly what I was looking for. I started my career in MNCs like dell and HP in the Technical support teams, Transitioned into IT sales, Worked as Business Anlayst and now in the project Management Space. I am looking to transition into Cloud Security. Do You reckon this is a suitable pathway for me ?
@UnixGuy Жыл бұрын
hey mate, yes this is definitely the path that’s suitable for you. Your technical support background will help a lot

So I’m doing my security + and about 90% finished and do not know what approach to go next. Originally I was thinking SOC analyst but now looking for cloud security but just a little lost as to which I would prefer or where to go next , any insight?
@UnixGuy Жыл бұрын
they’re both great paths, with similar transferrable skills. Pick one and study hard, thats what matters

Thank you so much for your consistency. For someone that is just starting out without the funds to pay for these trainings or certs, what do you recommend?
@UnixGuy Жыл бұрын
unfortunately there are no free alternatives, so best is to get a job to save up and pay for training

Thanks for this vid! I started with step one! But do got a question. Do you need to learn coding as well? If so in which course do they teach you that? Courses don’t seem to teach that? Greetings from The Netherlands!
@UnixGuy5 ай бұрын
for most roles now you don’t need coding. You might only need it if you if you decide to specialise in automation. I recommend you follow the plan as it is and it will get you to your goal. You don’t need to worry about coding just yet :)
