Awesome. I tried this technique earlier but with only one air shim before I discovered your video and I could not get the damned thing off. Thought about just breaking the plate or throwing my washer off of my deck. Will try again with more shims! Hope restored.

After I took the top cap off that above the 7/16 there is small gaps that hold that cap in place I got a hair pin bobby pin pushed it through one gap with a shoestring went across the way through another gap with bobby pin had the shoe string doubled ever so slightly and gentle pulled up worked good

I wish I would have found this video before I watched the one about smashing it with a hammer LOL. Oh well it worked, but now I have to order another plate. Not too bad considering It took me about 10+ hours and dozens and dozens of tries to get the original bolt out. Thank god I finally found some stripped bolt nuts at lowes.

All that you need to do is in the center where you took screw out. Get a set of plyers and pull up. The part where the 3 ridges meet in the middle.

Probably because the plate is moving with it? I used a small ratchet, and held both the plate and ratchet and banged it with a hammer to free it loose, gotta get creative 😂

This is not 100% effective. It did not work on my Whirlpool. Bad design and defective drive hub, IMO. My machine was only 6 years old. But, try this method as soon as it makes loud noises on spin cycle-don’t wait like I did.

Not when that MF'er is really caked on there. I used some screw driver style hook picks and pulled the living fuck out of it and nothing. Till I got tired of it and let It sit for a week and few days I guess the PB blaster I had applied done its thing and it came right off with the picks.
