I’ll guess 37.6 hours to mini-tub your GTO. Great video Mike, keep up the great work! I’m still amazed at how our car projects are on a parallel course. I’ve been putting off installing mini-tubs in my Chevelle because I didn’t know how to safely remove the inner wheel wells. All the other utube videos I’ve watched always seem to glaze over that part??? I’m not a bodywork person and don’t personally know any. Please finish this latest project - I’m getting ready to start mine.

The clock is a great idea. It would be helpful to have an idea of how long it takes to complete a job. People often ask me how much time I've spent on a project, and I have no idea. I do know that tracking my time, especially the first attempt, would be a crazy high number compared to a professional.
@FastMonty7 ай бұрын
Thanks Mark! Yeah, it always takes longer the first time. Luckily for us, this isn't my first time. :) But, still a good hourly budget tool for everyone else, on all projects moving forward. Thanks again!

Hey Monty, cool project, thanks for taking the time to video it step by step. Question: I noticed you still have seam sealer after you broke the spot welds. But I remember that your car was acid dipped when u started. I always heard the downside of acid-dipping was that it dissolved the seam sealer. So what’s the backstory with your seam sealer?
@FastMonty6 ай бұрын
Thanks Scott... good memory. Yeah, it was acid dipped. Apparently it doesn't remove ALL of the old sealer. And, I added sealer post dip, so I have both going on... ha, ha... thanks!

Looking good not sure about time. Are you putting the rails in also. Heads up on the sacrificial parts. You can use the belt sander to grind the wields out. Learning curve to get there but much quicker and less metal compromised on good panels

EDIT: Now, since watching ep.5 into this project, I can understand the time, and labor to complete such a job is much more than I originally estimated. (their is a Lot going on) So, in addition to the orig. 48 hrs. per side, add another 24 hrs per for a total of ((144 hrs. or 6 full days)) I'll say this, Looks like a project that could easily go astray, although with common sense, and thinking things through the project is coming together quite nicely for you.
