I love AN Hoses! One more modification to do while we have no coolant in the motor, lets upgrade the top radiator hose to AN style! The motor was rebuilt, the Tremec TKO installed, a couple more steps to go! "How to install an AN Radiator Hose, without welding! AutoPlumb.com" is all about what you can plan for when changing out your existing radiator hoses to AN style, in your classic muscle car. If I can do this at home, so can you! Googled it after I needed to make custom hoses for my engine swap, your video was the first that showed up. Really insightful, especially the swivel thermostat housing. Got one for my engine and I'm making the hoses. Although I'm getting someone to weld AN bungs on my radiator since it's a new one and not installed yet. Thanks so much 👍🏼

I have AN fittings on my 1980 Trans am as well for stainless steel to stop the fraying I used the widest electrical tape I had which was 1 1/2 inch. wide cut it in the middle took a small zip tie around the edge to help with holding it in place and then used super glue to hold it let it sit for half hour or so took it all off and placed the hose end on it works like a charm. Nice tutorial by the way....Pontiac we built excitement!!

just to make sure the hose does not back out durring the threading. masking tape on the hose at the fitting end.. then after you tighten the fitting up you can check the tape to see if the hose backed/ press out
@FastMonty
@FastMonty 2 жыл бұрын
Good point Randell... the hose will actually increase in length, because it's getting compressed inside the nut. So, you will see that tape reference point move. This is typical for large hoses. Smaller hoses, you wouldn't see very much, if at all. Thanks!

I copied the whole setup! I have a 1969 Pontiac lemans and so your videos are a savior and perfect! I bought through your links. One request- if you can list the part numbers in the description it would really help. I was able to pause the video and copy the numbers on the packages and it made sure it was all accurate. Some of the parts look very similar and it would help. Thanks so much for all these videos I’ll pick up some fmg apparel 🔥
@FastMonty
@FastMonty 2 жыл бұрын
Good point Byron.... I intentionally did not post the actual part numbers because everyone's set up is different. For example, even though we have the same engine, my radiator, and intake manifold may be different. So, it's always best to measure the nipple sizes, etc... just as instructed. That said, I did add more links, like the AN Wrenches, Hose, Hose pre-wrap, Vice Clamps, etc... so, that should help. :) Second to that... I just posted the Bottom hose install. Make sure you review that too, because I added a step for the Size 20 fittings. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6mQZniketOspKc Welcome to the FMG family!

I always think of an idea after watching your video's . which makes me feel like I am correcting you , but I'm only trying to be helpful and I might be over thinking it but it might be better to be a little on the long side for engine twist due to torque unless you have a torque strap. Hope I am not pissing you off.😀

Nice video, I’ve cut Aeroflow full flow 90’s in half and let’s just say they were terrible, alloy isn’t alloy and the radius was all wrong. I’ve since changed to Speedflow, it’s an Australian owned family business and used in all the top motorsports teams here. I even buy the bar ends by the kg and make solid alloy bushes from them. A beautiful billet alloy they use. In short, I’ve redone my whole fuel system twice. I do like those radiator fittings. Brings me to another item fabricators would rather use Speedflow weld on bungs. I have several in my build and my fabricator will only use these. The other brand, they splatter dye to impurities in the alloy, alloy not alloy, hope this helps in some way. If you wish to communicate let me know and I can show you my engine and fittings.

That scratch you ended up with on fitting when tightening is why I bought the nylon vise jaw inserts that earls makes for the AN fittings.figure spending the type of money it takes to make all you own lines with braided hose and all the AN fittings needed to make them I wanted to have best results I could possibly get without having a chance of scratching or marring the fitting.think the cost difference between the aluminum jaw inserts and the nylon was like 18 cents so why not pay a few extra pennies to have the extra assurance to not scratch your fittings.obviously you can still scratch them with the wrenches but thats a chance you gotta take.lol.btw awesome looking project you got going on there man.im in process of starting a frame off resto on a 71 chevy C10 for my uncle.i keep pissing him off by making him spend more money then he wanted cause I want to use the best of everything where he's wanting to do it as cheap as possible.i told him if I'm going to do the project I'm doing the best way I can with the best parts so end result is as good as it can be.dont think he realizes what it actually takes to have a quality job done when it comes to rebuilding an entire vehicle.he wanted to try having whole truck done for 10k or less.i laughed and told him I'd more than likely have 10k or more just into body work,prep and paint and that he better start thinking of spending more like 30 to 40k on build plus he wants to go with old school carbureted.told him i think it would be better to go with newer LS motor thats fuel injected.think he sharted his pants when I said what reality cost would be to do it rite compared to what he was thinking.lmao.now mind you im doing all work myself at no costs with exception when truck is done he's buying me a Suzuki TL1000 sport bike(maybe 4k for bike so i think thats a damn good deal)for all my time and work.

A heads up if you want to do this. Make sure you order the exact Aeroflow part show in this video. AF64-2074S. The ones listed on the auto plumb site are different and do not fit the swivel housing. I'm checking with Autoplumb to see if they have this in stock. Aeroflow is in Australia so keep this in mind if you go to order this directly from them. As a follow up. They do still have this part but is not on website. They had a fitment issue with the black ones on some non-Aeroflow housings. But, the silvers didn't seem to have the issue.

Its been a little over a year, with this hose radiator driving fast, high heat, the coolant running and high temperature... have you drove this car over 2 hours non stop.. and right now, how's the result ?.. any leaks, the AN hose came out or what about the radiator aluminum the upper tube from the radiator.. did it came off split separate.. and have coolant leaking everywhere?.. I am looking to do a time attack car on my civic hatchback.. and I will be running for long hours at the track.. and I will be dealing with heat, im going to run a full size radiator aluminum by KOYORAD.. now the 16 AN Bungs.. must be also aluminum and have it weld it.. and have a hose run to the other end.. but welding the aluminum 16An Bung to the aluminum radiator. .. I don't know how to do it.. and more than likely I will take it to a shop and have it professionally weld it. TiG weld, but I saw your video AN with no welding.. and im going to run a electric water pump.. no mechanical.. so will have coolant running non stop in my engine to keep the heat down.. but will the product from your video handle all that heat stress...at the circuit autocross.. .

@FastMonty
@FastMonty 3 жыл бұрын
Ha! Good question... most of the time Buicks, Olds, and Pontiacs, play nice together. :) But, I'm not an expert. The important step is finding a thermostat housing that's compatible with the 20 AN thread adapter. OR, a housing that has a straight nipple where you can use the AutoPlumb adapter on that end too. If I was in your shoes, I'd order a couple different housings from Summit racing, and test the bolt patterns. If they don't fit, you can return them. Hope that helps.

Totally agree... in actuality, you don't have to cut it, and it doesn't matter which way you put it on. The force applied by the strap wrench is more than enough to keep the tape in place.
