It’s okay to be chubby, not everyone has to go to the gym 24/7. However, if it gets to a point where you have to ask for 2 airplane seats then that’s something to consider. People tend to forget that obesity leads to many other health concerns and it’s not all about looking good and being confident, it’s about how your body feels.

There’s a fine line between accepting obesity and disregarding your health. I’m slightly overweight, but I’m fine with that because it doesn’t impact my health in any way. If you’re obese to the point where you can barely walk around the block or stand up for an extended period of time due to your weight, then that’s a problem. Being obese is only acceptable when you aren’t disregarding your health for the sake of “I’m fat and I can do what I want.”

I just wanted to talk about the girl at 3:24 for a second. She was complaining about her doctor telling her to lose weight even though she has a restrictive ed, but the thing is- you still need to lose weight to be healthy. An ED isn’t good for anyone, but guess what? There are healthy ways to lose weight. Her doctor is right, and I’m sure they want her to go about it a healthy way too.

I used to be fat and depressed and got sucked into that "body positivity" circle. I used food as a coping mechanism and got sm affirmation of how good i am the way i am from my past friends and media. I wasn't tho. I told myself my body isn't capable of being skinny and i should accept myself but i wasn't. I couldn't even walk a staircase properly. Its such a slippery, dangerous and sad path and i am so thankful i was able to move on and actually prioritize my health AND happiness. Theres a difference between just being a bit chubby, which i find still okay, and actually being fat and obese. Its not the norm, it shouldn't be normalized and its dangerous. It actually makes me mad to see these people trying and succeeding in what they do

No one gets annoyed about anyone trying to go healthy, idek what you mean. I've never seen someone obese tell someone they're a dick for trying to be healthy. Acknowledging you are fat and using that for clout is cringe. Most "fat" people would congratulate someone for trying to go healthy. Sometimes, obesity isn't by choice too. Maybe some people don't have the money to get healthy dishes since most health-friendly foods are higher price. That might resort those people to foods that are cheaper, like fast food or less-healthy choices at a grocery store. A lot of obese people also have eating disorders, causing them to eat much more.

So I'm disabled, and I do need things like shower and bathtub grab bars, shower seating, handheld shower heads, wheelchairs if I'll be at an event, a rolling walker if I'm going out in public... but I think the biggest difference is that I didn't *expect* those things the second I became disabled. I got the things I needed, and I request for them if I have to stay elsewhere, and then make do if that isn't able to be accommodated. It's not about what these people are asking for at all. It's the attitude that comes along with it, really. And that attitude is absolute shit!!
@unofficiallyAJ4 күн бұрын
Exactly! As someone who is also disabled (and fat) I am only entitled to the bare minimum, respect. If a house or apartment doesn't have a ground floor or elevator, that sucks, but I'm just going to have to live somewhere else. Store doesn't have a ramp? Guess I'm getting my groceries somewhere else. As long as I'm not forced to go without my mobility aides, then the rest is up to me. (Now of course there are exceptions.) Also the way they are so "being fat is disabled!!! " feels really gross to me. You can become disabled if you're too big, or being fat can exasperate preexisting disabilities. But saying you deserve to be lumped in with people who cannot properly live daily life is just really gross

Ok I have a story. So, I fucked up my metabolism due to ED (I had bulimia and compulsive overeating for a long time). I gained a remission but one day I understood that I weigh 80kgs. My normal weight is 58-63kgs. And I was like WTF GIRL. I'm trying to eat a lot of proteins, workout, eat rather healthy food, even though it's very difficult for me. I also have a lot of health issues(esp with thyroid) that make it more difficult. And I'm so concerned about this people who will probably die young because they have no willpower and believe that everything is fine with their body. Yes, it is very difficult to accept that you are fat. Yes, it is very difficult to stop overeating when you have mental illness. But it's very important...

We have pool lifts in most of our local pools, so they are a thing and quite common at least where I live. They are primarily used for people with mobility issues so that those who can’t use the stairs or pool ladder can still swim 🏊♀️. Swimming is an amazing recovery exercise as it’s gentle on the body and adaptable in how vigorous it is, which is why I’m kinda in agreement with her that most public pools should have them, as they can be an amazing tool to people with mobility issues, injury, or other issues that would benefit from them swimming.
