One thing I have found to be faster than yarn or fishing line for holding the comb in is rubber bands on the mini nucs they work pretty well after a week or two they will have the rubber bands out in front of the hive and I just pick them up when I inspect the next time.

i like hot wax to hold comb ect. and honey frames, i try not to use any wires, rubber bands, clips but the clip do work very good

Do you prefer the yarn over rubber bands? I like that with rubber bands the bees tend to actually chew the rubber bands and push them out of the hive once the combs are secure. Do they chew the yarn too?

In stead of wool could you drill holes and push cocktail sticks into the comb or bamboo Barbecue sqewers .

Hi Don, would using a medium supper that is split down the middle with a dividing plywood and then putting a 3/4 hole on each side of the box work to have 2 nucs in it? Or is doing the mini nuc a much better way? Thank you Don, your the best

after you put the queen cell in there are you sealing the nucs with drones or relying on her to mate, return and start laying?

Don The Fat Bee Man can you put undrawn queen cells in a queen right colony to be drawn out or do you need to put them in queenless colony

just wondering if put hot wax on the frame top, and put the cell on the wax would work to hold it?

Is there any reason to not put full size frames in a normal nuc for queen mating?

Don, as a new beekeeper trying to keep my equipment standardized because of the expense, It seems the amount of comb is equal to two standard frames. What is the advantage of building four mini nucs over using a full size box divided into four - two frame sections? Thanks!
