For all those saying that the movie is kinda confusing, hope this helps: In the movie, there are two Hyuks (lets say slim Hyuk and bulky Hyuk for the sake of understanding 😊). Before the Bulky Hyuk showed up in Da-eun's life, she ( Da-eun) was in a serious relationship with the Slim Hyuk who is a successful office worker. He ( Slim Hyuk) and Da-Eun lived together and apparently got pregnant. Unfortunately their relationship was strained due to Slim Hyuk having to work in Seoul ( i.e far from home). Slim Hyuk would often come home exhausted from work and in the process Da-Eun was neglected. Their relationship was further tested when Slim Hyuk slowly got romantically involved with a co-worker i.e Bo-yeong. Having been neglected by the Slim Hyuk, Da-Eun decides to abort her baby that she conceived while living with Slim Hyuk. And this is when Bulky Hyuk showed up at the hospital as a hepatitis patient where Da-Eun was working. Eventually Bulky Hyuk and Da-Eun bonded and fell in love. Bulky Hyuk even fixed the electric pulp in Da-eun's apartment (which was earlier shared with Slim Hyuk). Da-eun had in the past asked Slim Hyuk to fix it which the latter didn't. Ticket to Jeju Island that was initially offered by Da-Eun to her first love i.e Slim Hyuk is now given to Bulky Hyuk, her new love. As time goes by, Slim Hyuk realizes that he still loves Da-Eun. He rushes to the airport to meet her and hopefully make amends for his past mistakes and go together for the Jeju trip. But it was already too late for Slim Hyuk. As by now Da-Eun has given the ticket to Bulky Hyuk and the two of them are seen departing together for the trip. Dejected, slim hyuk goes back to his co-worker, Bo-Yeong and proposes her. Bo-Yeong tells Slim Hyuk that it was too early to say 'yes' even though she appears to like him. In one of the scenes, after their trip to Jeju Island, Da-Eun gives Bulky Hyuk a pair of shoes. He promises her that he will become slim and fit in their next trip which he eventually is shown to have achieved it.😊

For the people who are confused let me briefly summarise what happened lmao. Da-eun works in a hospital and that’s where she met the sick Jang-Hyeok. After spending time together in the hospital they soon fell in love. Da-eun suggests going on a trip to Jeju island with Jang-Hyeok who she met in the hospital. They’re both in the airport and Da-eun gets him and her matching shoes. Jang-Hyeok then says he’ll try his best to lose weight and then the next scene plays where it shows ANOTHER Jang-Hyeok coincidentally wearing the same shoes while running and has gotten fit. Now they haven’t said anything abt the Jang-Hyeok which Da-eun met at the hospital and the Jang-Hyeok who is running in this scene being the same person and that is the plot twist. The fit Jang-Hyeok used to be in a relationship with Da-eun but both got into a fight and during their fighting period Da-eun met the sick Jang-Hyeok in the hospital where she fell in love with him.

I don't think that was the moral at all in this film. Da-Eun rejected business Hyeok because he grew distant from her and became more focused on his career than his relationship. The only time where physique comes into play is in the plot twist because the film gets you to think that Hyeok is one single person who fulfilled a promise about losing weight, when in fact there were two different Hyeok's. Hospital Hyeok was willing to change the light bub when Business Hyeok would not, so the moral was more like don't be afraid to reject someone who does not fulfill their part in a relationship, as doing so will allow you to move on and search for a person that will put in the effort that is needed to make a relationship work.

@@noyura Is he really being used? She seems to have genuine affection for him. Normally when a guy is being used, the girl keeps trying to hang with their ex. When they bump into her actual ex, she gives him the cold shoulder and happily goes with the chubby guy. This is all because the chubby one treated her like a queen while the other guy did nothing but leave her out in the cold. It's kind of sad to assume that because he's chubby that the girl is just using him and if he's better looking that that's who she really wants to be with even they each treat her differently. If she didn't really want to have an abortion (just didn't want to raise it alone), the grief of losing the child will always be associated with that ex. The chubby guy may have kept her from getting to a point where she may have even killed herself. He appears to have had a healing effect on her.

This is not the first time this book has been shown on screen. In 2015, a Japanese production in Shizuoka and Tokyo, , developed the same story.

Like the cheater partner or toxic partner who is happy in his/her own world the victim has equal rights to be happy and if a person comes in their life who makes them feel loved, cared and looked after why should someone hold on to the toxic phase of relationship rather than choosing happiness and a new life, I would undoubtedly choose the latter, even though at some corner of my heart I would think abt him or cry thinking about his betrayal but it's just a moment of time, No one needs to hold on to grief and should always choose happiness and respect, life is short, now there can be different situations but based on the circumstances that FL faced in this movie I reckon the FL to have strong mental stability to handle such major grief with grace and choosing happiness over her torture....

This movie will confuse a lot of viewers but what i got from this is that the editors or intent of the movie was to confuse us thinking they are the same person. However, if you look at the story on each side they have a lot of common ground to say that there were the same person. The light bulb, Jeju Island ticket, the shoes and the girl herself. Now if you properly edit the scenes in actually timeline and in order it would seem like a boring drama. But if you take split the character scene to favor the other then you have this confusing looking at a movie. They really wanted to twist the plot to people while adding a shock factor, i even thought they were the same guy who time travelled. This is the power of editing and its crazy.
