Remember Super Nanny, Beyond Scared Straight, or World’s strictest parents 😅 It was all just abused/depressed kids being showcased, I remember being genuinely worried for the kids showed on Super Nanny & Beyond Scared Straight. I also remember all the weird ass parents shown on World’s strictest parents, I remember being confused on why all the “strict” parents would expect nicotine addicts to never smoke & then get irrationality angry when they eventually did. Like I know teen smoking is bad, but sudden nicotine withdrawal like that does more harm than good (causes headaches/migraines, extreme temper change, aggressive behavior in general).

One of the worst parts is, that guy saying he eats until he’s physically sick is a clear warning of a potential binge eating disorder (which I have!) this show could have at the very minimum tackled the potential eating disorders of a lot of these people instead of just using shame, but that’s the early 2000’s for you 😅

I think they calculate potential growth based on caloric intake and exercise levels Dieting calculators do it in reverse and tell you how many calories you need to maintain/gain/lose weight based on your height, current weight and level of activity

But also let’s not bully people for their weight. It can lead to DEADLY eating disorders (does not matter the weight anyone can die from things like heavy restricting, excessive exercise, purging and more) and lead to deadly or self destructive thoughts and actions. Bullying 100% leads to hating oneself which most of the time leads to self destruction. Shaming is so much based in hate and never with love.
