I used to say that all the time bro. His verse on this song is one of his all time best. Most people now would have no idea what this song is. This is REAL rap. Multiple artists that ALL have talent and can rhyme words that are bigger than 2 syllables. Rap from the mid 1990s the whole way through the early to mid 2000s was the absolute best it will ever be. That's just the sad truth. Rap on the radio now is trash. 99% of these wannabe rappers (like Drake, for example) have people write their damn lyrics for them. Lmao. Absolutely pathetic

freeyourmind I think I would win that argument. The 70s has many greats: PAC BIG Nas Big L Big Pun Fat Joe ...And a few more, but the ‘60s has: Rakim KRS One Big Daddy Kane Masts Ace Craig G Kool G Rap Slick Rick Dougie Fresh Biz Markie Chuck D Too Short LL Cool J Jay-Z Gangstarr (both Guru and Premier) Pete Rock & CL Smooth NWA (all of them) EPMD (both Erick Sermon and PMD) Half of the Wu-Tang Clan And many more. With the early ‘90s being the golden era of hip hop, the ‘70s kids were young exceptions and the ‘60s dudes ruled.

To those commenting that they were wowed when Nas said he rewrote his entire verse after hearing Pun's, he was simply expressing admiration and respect, like when an adult plays one-on-one with a toddler and says, "He destroyed me," or when the characters in "Pootie Tang" talk about how cool he is. If you actually listen to the way Nas worded this in Pun's bio "Still Not a Player," it was an exaggerated tone. He said something to the extent of, "When I was in the studio, I was like Whoa whoa whoa! I gotta step my sh*t up, because he's coming for everybody's head right now." Therefore, Nas never changed his verse. Not to discredit Pun, but after you die, people especially speak about you in the highest regard more-so than when you're alive.
