These days when the gyms are closed, bicycle as very helpful for health-conscious people and am also planning to buy a Fat Bike, the reason is they need little more effort and that's the purpose of buying/exercising, why would I hit a gym if my intention is to use girls weights (up to 10 kgs?)? Your physics reason is somewhat valid but the better the grip the safer it is and safety is more important, secondly, braking will be much better in comparison to slimmer tyre and no doubt they look amazing which is a big PLUS. I saw someone riding a Marlin Fat Bike and it drew my attention so much so that I have decided to buy one ! So I think Fat Bike attracts a lot of "Wanted attention" ! Also, I've heard that even though Fat bikes are tough and slow to ride on paved roads, they're 'fun' to ride.
