The real Kagura which was secretly performed. intends to open the gate from the other world but it failed, which causes the utsuwa to bloom and unleash hell.

Now, this has become my favorite Fatal Frame game...... so dark and unnerving, gorgeous soundtrack, lovable characters, a unique and original storyline that doesn't sacrifice the Japanese folkloric feel of the earlier games. However.... some things still don't make sense. Since when did Sakuya actually die and start being a ghost? I thought she just went into a coma before she woke up and started wandering around the island like a living medusa. Also, if she killed everyone who saw her face, shouldn't there be human remains all over the place? Also, I'm not too clear how this whole disease kills people. Cardiac arrest? Turning people into vegetables until they eventually starve to death? Yet the deaths of the island victims seemed so rapid, not to mention the two other girls at the beginning of the game. What exactly does "blooming" do to people physically? I thought it was just a contagious final stage, and only the victims themselves can see their own face as some indistinct blur in the mirror. Why would anyone else notice the victims blooming faces before death? That note said a victim's face actually transformed after death?? So many unanswered questions........ I guess that's what makes a good creepy horror story though. Leave the unexplained up to the imagination.......

The disease makes people to lose their memory gradually, eventually drive them crazy because they cannot remember themselves or the people they love. As the memory loss progressed, the patient becomes delirious, begin to sleepwalk and dance as if possessed. And yes, as you said, they can starve to death when they completely lose themselves. Although, many patients died of treatment the doctors experimented on them. Some of the patients chose to commit suicide because they couldn't take it anymore.

Hi, it's a really great and beautiful game, but I think I can explain some things in simpler terms. :) SPOILERS AHOY! "Since when did Sakuya actually die and start being a ghost?" After the failed ritual due to her blooming (she panicked during the ritual which interrupted the process and her mask shattered), she was in a coma and put in a ward to be watched over in the hospital. At the one year anniversary she awoke with her face blooming, and she began haunting the hospital and island and passing the "disease" so to speak to the inhabitants. So there's no real point in time where she "died", one can only assume she was partly dead to begin with due to the coma and the anniversary simply arose her. About the human remains, yeah... but in FF games you tend not to get bodies everywhere even though people died, you get their ghosts instead. The disease was a gradual descent into insanity, so one could assume they either neglected themselves so they died of starvation/dehydration, or maybe they got into an accident. Cardiac arrest could very well be possible, but I don't think there is any official explanation as to the exact cause of death, rather the symptoms leading up to it. Blooming isn't something that happens physically, per se. It's perceptive, at first the patients become afraid of reflective surfaces, then they gradually start losing their memory and their mind, the blooming phase is when they see their own face completely warped and distorted, this is hinted to drive them off the edge. Since you can bloom ghosts while fighting them, I assume blooming is the final stage where it's so bad that even others can see it, and by then it's too late for the victim for they are so consumed with frenzy and panic that they either kill themselves or will soon waste away.

thepeanats it is actually hinted at in an ingame book that the reason there are next to no bodies on the island is that the victims look for and seek out the moon, and the moon reflects on water. so most of the islanders walked into the sea and drowned, their bodies lost at sea.

Veran Yean I don't remember tbh. :) But the lack of bodies is a running discussion for the game series, like some people say it's unrealistic etc. I can kinda understand, even though I'm sure there would have been some "cleaning out" during the events of the games, but I really like the lack of bodies. If you got them everywhere they'd become non scary, a commodity. The games have a strong sense of loneliness and isolation so it becomes twice as creepy the few times you do see something resembling a corpse (like the wrapped up mummy or those bundles under blankets).

There is one i can remember the ghost list can't get completed since some of the ghosts don't get added to the ghost list so unless players cheat they can't get the Festival Lens

I'm starting to get annoyed by the people who keep asking you what the dolls are for. Gee, I'm sure any questions you have most likely have been answered by someone else in an earlier video. Still, I really am super curious. What the hell is the Lunar syndrome? I don't want you to tell me but it's bothering me, the stuff we haven't been told yet.

This game is for Wii right? Wow...and people say the Wii didn't have power...this game looks pretty good, and its known that in youtube...the quality of the video tends to decrease, so in the actual Wii it look even sharper, the effects are better and so on... -.-; wonder why humanity has that weird need to see really high RAM, and such numbers on their prefered console, when with less you can do a great thing.
