Okay, I figured out the ending thing. (I think) I saw a post on reddit by a person called KingpinChicken. I'm gonna quote them real quick: "It displays the year incorrectly because of the way the MVS releases were coded. The day and month are correct. The year is incorrect. They took the last two digits of the console’s current year setting. Ex. you could set it to 2002 and it would display 1902" Considering that the year this video was recorded and released was 2024, it makes sense if you think of it that way. Hope this helps :3

It helps a lot, thanks for the info! I was also recently reminded about the poster at the start of the game during the taxi cab sequence that happens if you leave the title screen idle. In the poster it says Oct 1990 for the tournament date, so that helps clarify it. The big mystery left is why does the Japanese version and the North American version have different inputs for the crack shoot lol
