@@JoeMama3006-7MM His guilt is irrelevant. I had a friend who was locked up, wrongfully convicted. The ADA who prosecuted had evidence that cleared him, which they did not disclose in discovery. His conviction was overturned after just 18 months of a 7 year sentence after another source of the same evidence came forward. While this man may have been guilty, there is fundamentally no assurance that all of the prisoners are. And even those who are guilty were not sentenced to death. And even if they were sentenced to death, there is a specific protocol for that, not just a random beating. So when prison guards take the initiative in this way, they are violating people's rights. Their right to appeal, their constitutional rights to avoid "Cruel and Unusual Punishment", they're deprived of due process. What is relevant is that these guards, as a core function of their job, are meant to PROTECT the prisoners in their custody. They did the opposite of that, in extreme a manner as is possible. Would you tolerate an employee that not only refused to do their job, but actively did the opposite? Of course not. These men committed murder. They are no better than the man they killed. They are criminals themselves, and belong in prison, on the other side of the bars. Look, I don't care about this guy. I don't know him. He was locked up for stabbing his girlfriend, which is pretty horrendous. He was very likely guilty as charged (the jury sure thought so). So the world is not going to miss this guy, we probably are objectively better off without him. But that doesn't give prison guards the authority to end a man's life. Now, your tax money is being spent on an investigation into the incident. Then it will go toward the prosecution of each person involved, they will be incarcerated, and that's going to cost us as well to keep them fed and housed. We all lost here. This is making national and international headlines. It's that bad. Look at how many people were involved in the attack of an already physically restrained man. There is a state Senator calling for the prison's closure. And this is far from an isolated incident at that prison.
