Ganon and falcon are not really even a mirror match anymore if you ask me. Ganon has a very similar move set but instead of combo food he just punishes super early instead. It usually ends up being a punish game for Ganon while falcon can combo so many different moves into one another without having to rely on an opening.

@@ogreaggressuv Yeah, I frequently use volcano kick at the ledge, but warlock punch should never be used unless you break a shield. Even with its super armor you need pure luck to land it. No one is going to get new moves from patches, just changing the properties, knockback, frame data, and damage of the attacks.

Hard to say what it would take to bring Ganon back to even Melee levels of viability. But if they can elevate Falcon as much as they have, Ganon could at least make mid tier with a good patch I think. Theyll never buff his movement, but if they sped up his up b it would give him some desperately needed defensive options.

I know Rickles is really good, so I wish I saw more offstage play earlier on in these games. Falcon is just as susceptible to getting rock-crocked as Ganon is, so challenging his recovery with dropzone Nair is pretty good in this matchup. For the first 8 or so games, he mainly U-tilted at ledge or tried reading getup and ledgetrapping with Fair (which is good but it didn't really start working out until around game 10). Either way, Fatality got back to stage relatively for free for basically the first 8-ish games. Besides that, games were sick. Gotta love the Father/Son matchup lmao.

Going offstage is risky on its own if ganon gets up b by falcon he has to tech or he loses the stock And even if he gets the tech falcon can just hit him straight back So unless you are 100% going offstage just isn't worth it

@@pandinus1377 I'm well aware. I think rickles is good enough to tech 95% of stage spikes. Hell, I retired from ultimate and I can still hit the tech on falcon/ganon up B super consitently. Its the easiest stage spike in the game to tech. Not to mention if you DO tech, you get a guaranteed punish, as ganon and falcon get stuck in animations (also known as rock crocking). This usually finishes them off. Its more rewarding than anything once you know how to tech it.

it's simple, he was literally just overhyped in early meta because of instances like that and looking way too much at "big sword kills early" and "offstage game kinda scary" on paper in reality, he has 0 winning matchups minus someone getting read like a book / peeing their pants in disadvantage, a godawful recovery matched with poor air speed and not even Ganoncide to legitimately fear anymore, and possesses several wack hitboxes and properties on loads of moves including those that count as general utility (Dash Attack's hitbox shrinks late hit into his character model, grounded wizkick clangs with everything and aerial is beaten out by loads of moves and all have small hitboxes, dtilt is a minor disjoint but has zero combo potential like in Smash 4, back air is way smaller, etc.) And the most he's really gotten buff-wise is a slightly faster forward air all the way from near the game's release.
