No, the title of this video has nothing to do with the 1979 album by Art Garfunkel, but it's hard to come up with original titles and bald, middled aged man eats breakfast while spilling his heart out doesn't have the same ring to it.

I’m sure that when your Dad asked you to look after your Mum, he didn’t expect you to do it at the expense of your own life and happiness. You do loads of things for your Mum, much more than most, and not only that but you spend time with her, which is the most valuable gift .

Roger I went through exactly the same thing just a few months ago with the death of my own father. He had been diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2016, at the age of 76, after having a catheter fitted in hospital because he could no longer urinate due to prostate enlargement. He had been having memory problems for a while before this, but we always put it down to forgetfulness with old age. He was officially diagnosed by doctors in hospital and it was downhill all the way from that point, living at home with my mother, she took on his full time care, and it was extremely difficult as my father would be difficult and often got angry and bad tempered when errors he made due to his failing abilities were pointed out by my mother. He was eventually, after my mother could no longer handle his difficult behaviour, in June 2019 put into full time care, and had to pay 1100 a week for the privelege of a small room in a care home, where he could no longer even remember why he was there, or even where he was. My mother would go and visit him every day at the home, but in March this year, we were all banned from visiting the home due to Covid 19. He went downhill very quickly after this and in Early August we were called to go to the home as my father was no longer eating or drinking, and had lost so much weight he was just 6 stone, literally pined away due to we think, not being allowed visitors. In that last week, I went to his bedside every day, and watched him slipping away. On the Thursday of that week as I was driving down to see him again, I got the call from my brother to say he had taken his last breath. Less than 45 minutes later I was shown into his room and he was lying there, motionless, his last breath taken, and I had to learn the hardest lesson of all, how to cope with coming face to face with my dead father, and hugging him for the final time. The feeling was as you described. Nothing quite prepares you for it. Seeing him lying there will stay in my mind forever, you never forget the experience. He had 80 years on Earth, but we feel that Covid 19 and the restrictions that were put on us visiting him, accelerated his demise. This year, without doubt has been the most depressing and terrible year for this country, and many many people will have lost loved ones, either to Covid 19 itself, or through complications due to it. You have my sincerest respects Roger - we all love you and wish you all the best for the future.

Loved this video and what you said about your Dad. It was very moving. And I'm sure he's still with you. P.S. I'm exactly the same when it comes to doing things: I can't stand it when someone is watching me, I need to be on my own. And having someone watching over my shoulder is probably the worst. So you're not the only one Roger 😊

Thank you for sharing . I agree with everything you said and believe . Thank you for sharing your story of your dad .. I’m glad he told you he loved you . ❤️ . it brought back when my dad passed . For me this year has brought a lot to the surface of people and past situations. 2020 is 🤪. You did a lovely thing for the young lad 👍🏻 . Someone in the comment said about you having butter with the peanut butter... I agree with you on that. it’s the only way for me and must be vegan butter too .

OMG Rodger soooo funny about Ellie I know how you feel. My dog Lola does the same and it drives me insane she is like a snuffling piggy. Don’t feel guilty mothers don’t expect their children to look after them. Stay sane. Peace 🧚🏻‍♀️
