Steve, what a power house, executes those snare rolls and double kicks with ease! He always seems to be the forgotten member of the past Fates members to the fans. It's great seeing Bones up there too, 7 albums with the band, great bass player.

Bones! Ha - that is too funny. I was lucky enough to smoke one with him in his bedroom when a friend of mine brought me to his house to visit. They had just got done touring with Armored Saint who was my favorite band at the time (and is still up there!). He had a early copy of Delirious Nomad and we got to hear Guardian before it came out. John still has it. This is still one of my favorite songs off one of my favorite metal albums. Fates Warning are the father of progressive metal IMO. DragonForce could learn a thing or two. Like how Fates never did guitar solos show off the technical prowess. They did solos to fit the songs. They could still shred but they shredded within the song. Sometimes when I hear DragonForce I just scream out loud" Ok! I get it! You can play guitar enough already with the epic guitar duels." .

Dio managed to sound awesome all his career, even with cancer. Only Arch and Kiske has done the same, but Dios toured extensively since the 70's, so Dio comes on top. For me, thing goes like this: Dio Tate, Arch, Kiske, Dickinson, Halford, Midnight Allen, Lande, Matos and the rest

But I liked King of Merciful Fate. At the end this was reminiscent of M.Fate. Warning is a band that was ahead of its time. Progressive when the term Progressive didn't exist. That's why it's so totally fresh even today. Of all the thousands of vocalists who is better? What I really appreciated is when he said the so understated but so so sincere "Thank you so much". I love Dickinson but are Bruce's vocals better?

it's so very difficult to say, because in the long list of bands of the US METAL, I personally think that Fates Warning are the absolutly supreme god of that list...and I mean in a list of such quality bands such: CIRITH UNGOLl, Manilla Road, Liege Lord, Winterhawk, Manowar, OMEN, Ashbury, Savatage, Helstar, Vicious Rumours, Virgin Steele, Medieval Steel, Sirah, Majestyc Rite, Stormbringer, Black Death, Attacker, The Weird Lord Slough' Feg, Dokken, WASP, Morley Crüe, Twisted Sister, Queensyriche, Legend, Sir Lord Baltimore and Dust (from 70's of course...not definitly US METAL genre but for sure ''proto'' metal sound) AGENT STEEL...Sanctuary, Armoured Saint, RIOT, Metal Church, Heathens Rage, Crimson Glory, Fifth Angel, Lizzy Borden, Hear Apparent, Shok Paris, Griffin, Jag Panzer, Dark Age, Brocas Helm, WARLORD, Chastain, Savage Grace, Leather Wolf, CJSS, Titan Force, Malice, Attika, Deaf Dealer, TKO, Cities, Axehammer, Alias, Tyrant, Keel, Bitch, Alcatrazz, Satan's Host, Damien Thorne, EXORCIST!!!...GLACIER...THE RODS...ABATTOIR...Original Sin, Trauma, Stryper, Barren Cross, Blacklace, Victim, Hellion, Tension, Wild Dogs, Overlorde...and you know if you love metal that the undergound list keeps on and on...and in all this Olympus (?) of absolutly cult acts of the best musical genre if I got to pick the Shao Kahn of this I got FATES WARNING...This is flawless, epic, outstanding, ''frozen in time'', divine example of how metal was meanted to be!!! Nobody gives Steve Zimmerman enough credit on how much he meant for the sound of early Fates Warning. As far as I think, on Spectre-Awaken-No Exit. his playing is as original and special as Barriemore Barlow´s in Jethro Tull, Andrew McCulloch´s on the Fields-Lp or King Crimson´s Lizard also Mikkey Dee´s playing on Abigal-Them and Conspiracy...To name a few... His style looks a bit odd and awkward though, like he´s muscling through the set using only arms or something... Everybody changed appearance over the years but Jim Matheos looks almost the same?
