Shawn seems like a great guy and a good friend. Several years ago in Arizona I was a18 handicap and my best friend was between scratch and a 2 handicap and he put up with me for many rounds on the golf course. Many single handicappers flat out refuse to play with a high handicap player. Like my friend John, Shawn is cooler than the other side of the pillow! ~Tim~🙂
@hoss0114 жыл бұрын
shawn is not close to an 8 handicapper, maybe 15. his swing his horrendous... Shawn if he played tips from a tough course he would be lucky to shoot high 80's..
@konstamattsson4 жыл бұрын
@@hoss011 a normal 8 handicapper doesn't have a perfect swing. Your swing doesn't effect your handicap... It's what you shoot. A tough course from the tips plays 5-10 shots more than your handicap because of the slope rating. And if you normally shoot +8 you're probably around 5 handicapper. The handicap is average of your best rounds.
@hoss0114 жыл бұрын
@@konstamattsson smh, go look at Matt Scharff n see what a 7 handicap looks like.. shawn is no 8 handicap just bc he maybe shot an 80 on an easy course or he plays a super easy course often...
@konstamattsson4 жыл бұрын
@@hoss011 the course they played was 7400 yards which is very long. On a that long course you usually get around 5 shots more to your handicap. The slope rating effects that a lot. He would probably shoot much better on a shorter and easier course, but he wouldn't get more shots to his handicap. I've seen scratch golfers with horrendous swings and still they shoot low scores.

John, and Shawn, great video. John, my man, play that three wood off the tee, that’s a great club for you. Take the 20 less yards and play from the middle.
@danielcohen31594 жыл бұрын
Good videos, John! I've been concentrating on the same things: avoiding the big blow-up holes and dialing in the short game better. I play off around 6 or 7 at the moment. Your pitching is looking pretty good, I think. Great pitch on 10. For a 20 HCP your short game is pretty stellar. I kept trying to will you to aim more right on the tee and you finally did it on 15. And 18. I think your alignment is generally a little farther left than maybe you feel like it is. I have that problem as well. I try to use Jack Nicklaus's trick of having an intermediate target a few feet or yards in front of the ball along the target line and set up to that. It ALWAYS feels like I'm aiming too far right. And it never is. Your alignment was spot on on both shots on 15. Okay. Random unsolicited advice over now. I enjoy watching these videos quite a bit.

You should be hitting three wood off every tee. It seems you hit more fairways and hit it as long as your driver. You make a lot of course management mistakes, I think you could cut 5 strokes off your game just with course management. Things like “I’m gonna try to hit this punch cut three wood” shouldn’t be near your mind, I know scratch players who struggle with that shot simply bc it’s a tough shot. I say all this super respectively, I love your channel. I love that you count every stroke, tell the truth, and have fun. If you’re ever in Ohio we can play virtues on me! It’s a top 100. Best of luck man

I was getting hyped for you at the end their when you kept pulling out 3 wood and blasting it in the fairway. I bet if you would have done that the whole round you would have beat him. Your drive is really good it’s just you got to hit fairways. Maybe while you work on trying to get the drive straight you should use the 3 wood and get fairways a lot more! Other than that, great round!!!

Chipping and short pitches are getting better. A few more fairways with the driver will help. Bad holes will be double bogeys, just need to clean up the triple-pluses.

Just a suggestion here. If you are in a greenside bunker where the sand is somewhat packed due to recent rains and the bunker has no lip to speak of you might try putting out of it since you hate chipping. I use that method myself and am usually pretty successful at getting up and down with it. The name of the game is get the ball into the hole in as few strokes as possible and I refuse to let my ego get into the way of it. On the same line, and I know others have said this but you really should move up to the next set of tees. That will go a long ways in helping you break 90. Don't let your ego rule your game big guy. Just play within yourself and you'll do fine.

Your a good golfer, you just need to work on your drive. You drive the ball 210, there's no way you can reach the green on par 5's and long par 4's and have a birdie putt. Just gotta get some more distance off the tee and u will be shooting 90, everything else is good.
@7thleveldevil9194 жыл бұрын
I think your need your lie angles adjusted on your irons and wedges. Looks like the heel of the club is digging in first thus shutting the face making you hook and pull the ball. Your club's toe seems very high. Adjust the clubs not your natural swing.
