⁠@@ianerickson2210idk about OP but my ex gfs dad used to ship battery chemicals to and from his chemicals company. He gets paid well as a trucker, but he also witnessed a gruesome accident that left a coworker seriously disfigured for life. He (the coworker) got over $2 mil in a settlement.

That's kind of crazy when you consider that they also likely have higher than average savings to pay for their medical treatments, but still die significantly earlier. It's probably not just an early death, it likely also a lot of years of terrible health and constant hospital visits.

Texas Summers are brutal, and the uncertainty of Texas power grid handling the harsher winters. My electric bill for a small home just keeps looking worse every year. Moving out of Texas to colder region doesn't sound crazy IMO.

You can always do cool lab scale stuff where you can control toxin exposure more. I prefer the work anyways. Even so plant process engineer is where the big money is but doing cool lab stuff is going to pay fine and not be soul crushing and have working fume hoods. What is missing is the coldest places have the worst mosquitos. I'm Canadian and been around the world. The worst place for Mosquitos I've been to is from Quebec to Alaska, coast to coast, in the summer.

I’m from Houston and go fishing in Canada, specifically western Ontario every year. Canada mosquitos are terrible in the summer and they’re huge. But houston has mosquito’s year round. They’re smaller, but there’s more of them.

My wife and I do it all of the time. We have enough similar interests, of course, but more often than not, one of us wants to go to something far more than the other. It's too damn expensive to pay for both of us to go and for a babysitter. So, just have one go and the other stay home and watch the kids, but just keep it balanced in frequency.

If my girl wants to go out with her girlfriends, I get excited! It means I get 4hrs of alone time and a drunk and possibly horny gf coming home haha Spending time APART is underrated in relationships.
