My dad edited a video for my brother that passed away 4 years ago, and he used this song. I thought it was a great song, but never asked who the artist was, or what the title. My dad took is own life during last year's tough winter. Hearing the lyrics so clear and hearing you play it, really makes his message meant for my brother so clear. You have taught me so many songs, and I am glad I checked this one out! Thanks Alan, I will be practicing this one.

I don't normally like these types of tutorials but I've been a fan of your videos for many many years because I can see and hear the passion and emotion in everything you do and when you teach with passion the knowledge gained from it is invaluable because in any career you take be it acting, painting music ect. Passion and practice are such key component in a musical career because they both make you better. And with a song such as "father and son" the bittersweet emotion is what gives the song it's tone with out any of these this song wouldn't be as emotional as it is. Thank you so much for your inspiration this reminds me of my father who played this in his car on an 8 track player many years ago. I never got the meaning of the song as he played it to me until years after his passing. I miss him very much. In recent years I have heard the song which has inspired me to play the guitar and thought to bring this great artist work so I can play thinking about my son and how much he means to me thank you so much.

Gidday Alan, your tutorials are fantastic. The start is quick and to the point but with all the info needed. And the actual playing is great with the graphics on the screen. I like how they all follow the same format so I can very quickly get a feel for the song and see if I want to learn to play it. I find it very hard to be "talked" through a song in bursts like a lot of the other vids out there. Great work it must take you a lot of time to do these but they are great, and sometimes they keep me playing when I am about to despair! Mike

Cheers, but if you swap the Bm bar chord for an open chord the rest of the rhythm part of the song is composed of pretty basic open chords and the strumming pattern is also slow and basic. :)
