Keep in mind that is ROI before tax, tax eats up 30%, let's assume 25% if we divert into tax saving schemes, 2.8 lacs roughly, in a tier 1 city we need at least 1 to 1.5 lacs minimum to be comfortable. Not nearly enough for me, because I have the same amount of savings. I'm relatively young, so I'm a bit nervous if it can comfortably last me for 30+ years.

Hey brother, I have a doubt. Just because the government of India holds a majority stake in PSU banks like SBI, how does that make their employees "govt. employees"??? I believe there was a ruling passed in 2019 by the Delhi High Court that Employees of PSU and nationalised banks shall not treated as Government Employees.
