Big thanks to whoever wrote these lines and asked him to read them. Of his many voices he's used this one maybe the most infrequently, not to mention footage of him performing as Father on-screen is pretty much non-existent. The only other character he did I heard who sounded like Father was Eric the Red from Hysteria! and someone mentioned Michaelangelo from Animaniacs. I don't know how much Father sounds like Brain, though... Brain is nasal and towards the back of the throat, while Father is more forward and not particularly nasal, unless you count the voice cracks or the chewing of certain consonants. Father has a smooth jaggedness to his voice that climbs up and down erratically, while Brain has that elegant, dilligent, and earnest measured tone. Father is more ironically upbeat and likes being evil while Brain has the melancholy and the naievety of a villain-protagonist. Brain is primarily calculating and only slightly unhinged while Father is more overtly unhinged and secondarily calculating. Brain likes to explain the complex mechanisms of a plan beforehand while Father is about the reveal of a plan, sometimes after the plan's already in motion and usually to the KND. The differing approaches changes the cadence of their speech. Brain emphasizes certain key and crucial points to Pinky whereas Father emphasizes that which shocks, disturbs, or horrifies kids and/or henchmen and delights his evil self, and he emphasizes what he likes, like taking mad-with-power naps, getting his grandmother's secret cake recipe, or Rainbow Munchies cereal. And finally, their accents are different. Where they do sound similar is pitch, so, if Brain got drunk, and was then pumped with stimulants but so that he was still drunk, and then given a sedative to increase euphoria and decrease his inhibitions, channelled his childhood trauma of not being able to return home into not just ruling the world, but destroying those in the way of ruling the world, developed a pathological hatred of the Schmeerskahoven and was pestered by Pinky to the point that he would burst into frequent bouts of inanimate object-destroying rage, and then moved to the suburbs, (or just got a dialogue coach) then Brain would sound more like Father.

The exact reason I made this video was because of the thousands of charcters that Maurice has given life to over his three decade career, father from codename: kids next door has always been my favorite. A beautiful villainous marriage of performance and fiery delightful animation. I've had the pleasure of meeting him three times. Hes a genuinely kind hearted soul and one of the most prolific and talented performers I've ever had the privilege to meet. The voice was inspired by actor Kirk Douglas, just so you know. It's his impression of Kirk Douglas😉
