Seems like another case of a horror movie starting out strong only to become ridiculous and laughable by the end. They always take it too far. The Nun was really similar to this. If the movie was only the first 20 minutes it would have been amazing.

It's a bit of a plot hole in the writing. Think of this, Norse Mythology exists, Greek Mythology exists, Hinduism, Buddhism, the beliefs of Egyptians long ago. There are many religions with their own gods, because these stories help unite us as a species, helped us make sense of, and derive purpose in the world. It also helped produce a sense of security and hope. Unfortunately, religion has also been used to spread hate and divide and fuel tragedies. All of these religions are made by humans. There is no "God" and there is no "devil," as in the Christian mythology. From a Christian perspective, one could argue God made Lucifer and the other angels, and he gave them, and humanity, free will. With that free will Lucifer and other angels went against God, creating demons. So God did not create demons, the angels chose to become demonic. But that God loves all, and will send the faithful to heaven and the unfaithful to hell. But of course, none of this is any more than a story made up by humans.
