Got to love how completely unfazed Jonathon Harker is by the obviously supernatural happenings right in front of him - he's just like "huh, that carriage driver's arm just grew ten feet and picked me up". I also really love the way Dracula's shadow isn't really following his movements at all.

It was more acutely described in the books, but these supernatural things are occurrences that Harker fails to realize/react to in the moment, but reflects on later in his letters and writings. Its very easy for someone in Harker's position to rationalize the weird things he sees as either tricks of the light, odd hallucinations brought on by his long travel, or simply the peculiarities of a strange and foreign land.

@stef107416 күн бұрын

I have fallen in love with Dracula media via this film. The book is simply stunning, but i have also gone on to read other books and watch every film that I could find. One of the funnest things I have read and would recommend is the 70s/80s comic, 'Tomb of Dracula'. Its 80 brilliant issues plus some spinoffs, and also an animated film from 1980. There are a number of comic adaptations of the Bram Stoker novel, and also based upon the film version from 1992. There is even a really fun Mickey Mouse comic adaptation that if you know the story from the book, you will no doubt enjoy it more as an adult as much of it will go over a child's head.

I think that while not much stands out about Keanu's performance, it doesn't really need to. He's just kind of in the middle while Mina and Dracula are more the main characters. Having Keanu's role more passive really creates a presence around Dracula that makes him feel much more than human, despite him showing a lot of human emotion in this movie. I thought it was an interesting dynamic.
@Aquascape_DreamingАй бұрын
@@Hooga89precisely this. Add to that, the fact that he's in a foreign land, and seeing things he's not sure he can trust his senses on. Even in "Fright Night" that theme is maintained. It's not an "addition", it's integral to the story. Otherwise, Dracula is just a weird supernatural being that hunts people for blood ... for no real reason. It's utterly mindless without the love interest of Harker's girlfriend.
