Personally, I would've told the mom "I'd rather be homeless than spend even one single night more in HIS house" And seeing how I WAS homeless for a portion of my life because of the abusive POS my mom cheated on my father with (dad died of cancer after the divorce so had to live with mom and her POS for a while) I can LEGITIMATELY say that in MANY ways it IS better to be homeless than in a toxic abusive household

Usually in most families there is an inheritance of some kind. Now imagine you've been ostracized your entire life, treated like you are a burden, ignored, and unfairly treated. Then out of the blue you get a call from those people saying all of us need to speak in person about inheritance. If I'm getting an invite there is going to be a small part of me that wonders if I'm getting something because they could have just told me I was not getting anything over the phone. Why invite me?
