You just dont see this level of story and acting anymore ...or very rarely have I seen actors fully embodying these character -- Rachel Ward was the unforgettable beauty of Megan... I'll accept their love in "reel" life. Testimony to their talent and professionalism that they were so believable given Mr. Chamberlain's orientation and Ms. Ward's attraction and subsequent marriage to her co-star and on-screen spouse. The triangle in this relationship was Ralph, Maggie and God. To Ralph's credit, he had enough self-awareness to know Maggie was the greater "lover" of the two.

Complimenti.👏👏👏🏆

Vittorio had his own rose. He knew Ralph's feelings. This movie still takes me up, and I've seen it as a teenager when it was released. But on another note: I'm Roman Catholic and my parents were similar to Ralph and Meggie. With all the wisdom of Vittorio - it's all about power and money. Had Ralph not been so wealthy (which he was because of Mary Carson left him her wealth, to hurt him - she knew they would call him to Rome with that money and away from Meggie), they would not have bothered with him. They promoted him, and let him break his vows because they wanted his wealth. That's why they didn't ground him. If you watch the series, you will notice that when he returned many years later, he had no struggles when walking straight into Meggie's bedroon. And so they did leave my father do whatever he wanted. Because his family was rich and powerful. They never bothered us. And neither him.

После роли Кардинала люди подходили целовать ему руку как настоящему кардиналу, и мне кажется это высшей наградой зрителей великому артисту!!! Why the dramatic music in the background? This is not part of the movie and ruins our ability to enjoy watching your video😮
@londiniumcross512210 ай бұрын
Ralph was power obsessed. He would never let go of his career in church. Because his mother had him out of wedlock, he never knew his father, and in conservative Ireland, the church was raising him. They probably taught him that his mother was low-life and didn't love him. He never had another home than the church. That's why he was so loyal and didn't want to give up the life he thought he was destined to live. The church was all he had, all he knew, and with the inheritance from Mary Carson, he was an asset to them. - I absolutely loved him in this movie but I absolutely disliked him in the book. It's interesting how a movie can portray a loveable and a loving man when in the original book, he was dispisably selfish and it clearly came across that his feelings for Meggie were not what I call real love.
