It's such a great blessing for me to be able to listen to this teaching given by my favorite SSPX priest Fr Robinson whom I've known from Dr Marshall's podcast...the 2 shows which featured the existence of SSPX that made me become a Traditional Catholic. As always, he gives such a remarkable explanation on topics that's very important to our faith. Thank you so much Fr Robinson and God bless you more.🙏🙏🙏

This reminds of the movie The Last Samurai. When the Samurai Katsamoto goes to the Emperor of Japan and is accused of all sorts of things because of his rebellion, when in fact he was rebelling in order to defend Japanese traditions. Katsamoto made it clear he was not resisting the emperor but resisting those who tried to implement modern stuff on Japan.

The FSSPX Priests in Poland are also amazing. I am getting to know your work now and the FSSPX you tube channel in America and so far I cannot stop listening to you. I am from Brasil, live in the UK and have a Polish background. I wish and hope that the return to the Latin Mass with the help of FSSPX could help to the conversion from bad Catholicism here in the UK as well in Brasil. South America and Europe desperately need FSSPX determination, faith, knowledge and example. Please please help FSSPX in Brasil to develop! Thank you father for this talk!

JMJ+ Prayers for Archbishop Vigano, Bishop Schneider, and all the other Traditional leaders of the Catholic Church. Prayers for those who lead astray as many as possible. I would like to hear more about the two Bishops and their newly consecrated Bishops. More than just the laity of SSPX and all others that try to be true to Tradition in today's mostly wicked world need to know about the lies and hypocrisy. Way too many still believe SSPX is in schism and Archbishop Lefebvre was rightfully excommunicated as an enemy of the Papacy. I don't recall St. Peter telling St. Paul that he was making him look bad. It's so much easier to hate what has and is happening within the Church and the world in general than pray for Reparation to the SACRED and Immaculate HEARTS of JESUS and Mary for those that promote heresy and an anti-Christian religion. Seems very much like Diocletian, the identity / fealty cards, and the incense. Theotokos, ora pro nobis. amen

1# Is the SSPX in schism? No, never! Before the consecrations took place, the Society of Saint Pius X had been growing very popular. It was getting a lot of attention because it continued to use the Tridentine Mass. The Society did its best to dodge attempts of “modernization.” This caused many modernists in Rome to call the society a “rebel group.” Note: I am going to get very legalistic now, so pay close attention to the codes of Canon Law that I cite. On June 15th 1988 Lefebvre stated that he was going to consecrate four bishops so that his society could continue to grow. Lefebvre wished to expand his society in order to save souls and preserve the faith. The congregation of Bishops in Rome would then send a Canonical Warning to Lefebvre. The warning stated that if Lefebvre consecrated the bishops without a papal mandate that he would receive excommunication. Canon 1013 and 1382 were cited in order to defend the possible excommunication. No other canons were cited and NO mention of schism was made. Archbishop Lefebvre would then consecrate the bishops without papal permission which would result in his excommunication. The congregation of Bishops would then send him the letter of excommunication. This letter, however, contained a very big error. The letter stated that Lefebvre committed a schismatic act by consecrating the bishops. The letter cited canon 1364 defending its accusation of schism. The problem with this is that NO mention of canon 1364 was given in the Canonical Warning. NO mention of schism was given in the Canonical Warning. Lefebvre was warned that he would receive excommunication for violating canon 1382 but then received excommunication for violating canon 1364. How can Lefebvre be excommunicated for a crime that he didn’t even commit? Here is an example of how absurd this is: A person robs a bank and does not kill anyone. Then the judge decides to send him to prison for robbery and first-degree murder. Not only is it absurd to sentence someone for a crime they didn’t commit, it is also unjust. The fact that Archbishop Lefebvre was unjustly excommunicated raises questions to whether the excommunication was valid. The following day after the excommunication, July 2, 1988, Pope John Paul II issued an apostolic letter Motu Proprio "Ecclesia Dei" in which he solemnly confirmed both the excommunications and the existence of the schism. One must wonder if Pope John Paul II even knew about the excommunication. It is rather odd that he confirmed the excommunication one day after it occurred. If John Paul II did not know that the excommunication occurred until one day later then that means that there is doubt as to how it was decreed. Some have tried to argue that consecrating a Bishop without papal mandate constitutes a schism but they’re wrong. It does not! Here is the definition of schism according to canon law: Can. 751 ...Schism is the withdrawal of submission to the Supreme Pontiff or from communion with the members of the Church subject to him. Nowhere in canon 751 does it say that consecrating a Bishop without a papal mandate is a schismatic act. In fact, consecrating a Bishop without a papal mandate is in a section of canon law called “penalties for particular offences title III: Usurpation of ecclesiastical offices and offences committee in their exercise.” This section of canon law has nothing to do with schism. This is even confirmed by expert in Canon Law Cardinal Lara: "The act of consecrating a bishop (without the pope's permission) is not itself a schismatic act," Cardinal Lara, President of the Pontifical Commission for the Authentic Interpretation of Canon Law, in La Repubblica, October 7, 1988) It is important to understand that every act of schism is an act of disobedience but not every act of disobedience is an act of schism. How can Lefebvre be excommunicated for schism when there was no mention of schism in the canonical warning? How can Lefebvre be excommunicated for schism when consecrating a Bishop without a papal mandate is not in itself schismatic? It appears that Lefebvre was not validly excommunicated! Lefebvre responded to this unjust excommunication by citing canon 1323 in his defence. Canon 1323 §4 states that no one can receive a penalty if they acted under grave fear or reason of necessity. Canon 1323 paragraph 7 adds to this by stating that if the person believed that they were acting out of grave fear: they do not receive a penalty. Have a look: Can. 1323 No one is liable to a penalty who, when violating a law or precept: 4° acted under the compulsion of grave fear, even if only relative, or by reason of necessity or grave inconvenience, unless, however, the act is intrinsically evil or tends to be harmful to souls; 7° thought, through no personal fault, that some one of the circumstances existed which are mentioned in nn. 4 or 5. As seen above, Lefebvre could not have received any excommunication in the first place. Lefebvre believed he was acting out of grave fear and that there was a reason of necessity. His grave fear was that the Tridentine mass would be abrogated and lost forever. His intent was to save souls. The consecration of Bishops was not an intrinsically evil act and was definitely not an act of schism. It is important to understand when there is doubt in Canon Law, the benefit is always given to the accused. Unless of course you’re a Catholic faithful to tradition... then you get the boot! Here is a quote from Lefebvre proving that he does not support schism: -Archbishop Lefebvre to his society “I beseech you to remain attached to the See of Peter, to the Roman Church, Mother and Mistress of all Churches, in the integral Catholic Faith, expressed in the various creeds of our Catholic Faith, in the Catechism of the Council of Trent, in conformity with what you were taught in your seminary.” (Message given to his priestly society) Summary: Archbishop Lefebvre along with the bishops were not validly excommunicated because: -The decree given contained errors -The decree given contradicted the canonical warning -Lefebvre was charged for a crime he did not commit -Lefebvre’s actions were backed by canon 1323 -Canon 1323 prevents Lefebvre from receiving a penalty In addition to the above reasons: -Pope Benedict XVI lifted the excommunications The SSPX is not a schismatic society because: -Consecrating bishops without a papal mandate is not a schismatic act -The SSPX has never denied the authority of the Pope -The SSPX receives its jurisdiction out of canon law -The SSPX upholds the faith and morals of the Church and refuses to accept heresy -The SSPX obeys the Pope in all things as long as they don’t contradict the unchangeable dogmas of the Church -The SSPX is allowed to resist a Pope who teaches heresy according to the statements of countless Popes, Saints, and Divine Law. -The Council of Trent and Quo Primum permit the SSPX to celebrate the Tridentine mass without any fear of penalty -The SSPX offers the Tridentine Mass in a time when Catholics find themselves in a state of necessity

#2 Athanasius vs Lefebvre During the Arian crisis in the fourth century almost all the bishops either espoused the heresy with enthusiasm or refrained from any active opposition through cowardice. The small remnant of faithful Catholics had to worship outside the churches of their diocese - practicing their religion "independently of Church authority and in disobedience to it." The Pope himself had been browbeaten into compromising with the heretics, and even into excommunicating the outstanding defender of orthodoxy, the bishop to whom the persecuted Catholics looked for inspiration and guidance - St. Athanasius. The crisis grew so severe that eventually the heroic bishop had to ordain priests in the dioceses of other bishops in order to ensure that a true Catholic priesthood would survive. What the history of this period proves is that, during a time of general apostasy, Christians who remain faithful to the traditional faith may have to worship outside the official churches, in order not to compromise that traditional faith; and that such Christians may have to look for truly Catholic teaching, leadership, and inspiration not to the bishops of their country as a body, not to the bishops of the world, not even to the Roman Pontiff, but to one heroic confessor whom the other bishops and the Roman Pontiff might have repudiated or even excommunicated. The story of Athanasius -The Arians take control of the Church -Athanasius resists Rome and consecrates many bishops without papal permission -Feeling a lot of pressure from the Arians, Pope Liberius excommunicates Athanasius -Athanasius continues to save souls outside the control of Rome -Years later the excommunication is revoked -Athanasius is made a Saint for his heroic actions The story of Lefebvre -The modernists take control of the Church -Lefebvre resists Rome and consecrates many bishops without papal permission -Feeling a lot of pressure from the Modernists, Pope John Paul II excommunicates Lefebvre -Lefebvre continues to save souls outside the control of Rome -Years later the excommunication is revoked -Faithful Catholics await the day when a traditional Pope gets elected and declares Archbishop Lefebvre a Saint for his brave and heroic actions The similarities between Athanasius and Lefebvre are astonishing. Athanasius knew the difference between Arian-Rome and Catholic-Rome just how Lefebvre knew the difference between neo-Modernist Rome and Catholic-Rome (or Eternal Rome, as the Archbishop himself calls it). It is important to understand that Rome is a city in Italy and not the Catholic Church. Rome plays a very big role in the Catholic Church but it is not the Church itself. Saint Athanasius used to say “even if the Catholic faithful are reduced down to a handful, they are the true Church of Christ.” Lefebvre said something similar. He said, “They have the buildings but we have the faith.” Both Athanasius and Lefebvre were loyal to Catholic Rome. They refused to be obedient to temporal Rome when temporal Rome wanted to corrupt Eternal Rome (by taking away the Latin Mass primarily, the minor orders, the traditional catechism, etc, etc.). Both of these essays are written by Tridentine Crusader ; I just made a few changes :) Hope this helps; JMJ!

The following are quotes from Vatican Officials. Cardinal Edward Cassidy President of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity Protocol number 2336/94; May 3, 1994 - “…Regarding your inquiry, I would point out at once that the Directory on Ecumenism is not concerned with the Society of St. Pius X. The situation of the members of this Society *is an internal matter of the Catholic Church.* The Society is not another Church or Ecclesial Community in the meaning used in the Directory. Of course the Mass and Sacraments administered by priests of the Society are valid. The bishops are validly-but not lawfully-ordained…" Cardinal Dario Castrillon-Hoyos President of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei’s Public interviews 30 Giorni [30 Days] with Gianni Cardinale in September 2005: - “Unfortunately Archbishop Lefebvre went ahead with the consecration and hence the situation of separation came about, even if *it was not a formal schism."* Italian TV Canal 5 on November 13, 2005 - “We are not dealing with a case of heresy. One cannot say in correct and exact terms that there is a schism.” - "The act of consecrating a bishop (without the pope's permission) *is not itself a schismatic act,"* Cardinal Lara, President of the Pontifical Commission for the Authentic Interpretation of Canon Law, in La Repubblica, October 7, 1988) Finally: Msgr. Camille Perl Secretary of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei In a May 28, 1996 letter and repeated in Protocol No. 236/98 of March 6, 1998: - “In the strict sense *you may fulfill your Sunday obligation* by attending a Mass celebrated by a priest of the Society of St. Pius X.” His second question was “Is it a sin for me to attend a Pius X Mass” and we responded stating: -“2. We have already told you that we cannot recommend your attendance at such a Mass and have explained the reason why. If your primary reason for attending were to manifest your desire to separate yourself from communion with the Roman Pontiff and those in communion with him, it would be a sin. *If your intention is simply to participate in a Mass according to the 1962 Missal for the sake of devotion, this would not be a sin.” * His third question was: “Is it a sin for me to contribute to the Sunday collection at a Pius X Mass,” to which we responded: - “3. It would seem that a modest contribution to the collection at Mass could be justified.” And in a letter of September 27, 2002: - “It is true that participation in the Mass and sacraments at the chapels of the Society of St. Pius X does not of itself constitute formal adherence to the schism”. Pope Benedict XVI has cancelled the excommunication of four bishops ordained by the late French bishop Marcel Lefebvre. May God bless you! JMJ
