Scar decomposed the water into hydrogen and oxygen, and then used Al's head to cause a spark to ignite the hydrogen, resulting in water (as steam), lots of heat, a bit of a blast, and Envy flambée with a side of roasted chimera.

Wrath's case is unique. Philosopher stone is made up of human souls. Wrath killed all of them. Also only Bradley and Ling are the human based homunculus, you know the one that grows old. Everyone else is created directly by Father. Also Father remembers Hohenheim, repeat the episode, he clearly mentioned Van Hohenheim.

@@MrFranocanha89 Bradley's body resisted the stone to a point where it did so much damage to his body that by the time he fully became Wrath, there was only one soul left in the philosopher's stone making him incapable of regenerating. Ling, however, didn't resist nearly as much and, in fact, welcomed Greed into his body, so the philosopher stone didn't spend itself healing his body as much as it did with Bradley, allowing him to keep the regenerative powers.

Father does know Hohenheim, you hear him saying "Oh! You mean Von Hohenheim?" They both know each other, Father just doesn't keep tabs on Hohenheim, so he didn't know the Elrics were related to Hohenheim. Also, about Greed, I think that that's because the last Greed was deliberately killed by Father. Father mentions that he will reform Gluttony with his memories, so he just doesn't do that for Greed. I also think his personality is an amalgamation of all the souls in the Philosopher's Stone, so each time he's reformed unless Father specifically controls it, he will have a different personality. Last If you recall Scar's brother based some of his research on Alkahestry, and May knows Alkahestry too. So as we can see here, Alkahestry can't be interfered with by Father.

In simple terms. A Philosopher's stone consist of souls, Homunculi are created from stones. Therefore Homunculi consist of souls as well. Its how Ed was able to use sacrifices from the souls in Envy last episode

About the Greed thing, it's kind of a poor translation + a misunderstanding on Greed's part. Father just wiped Greed's memory so that he wouldn't rebel again. It's not some other Greed, it's the same one, with amnesia basically. Father asked them "do you mean van Hohenheim?" Which clearly means he already knew Hohenheim was. You talked over the part where he said he was surprised Hohenheim had children. Which means either Hohenheim and Father haven't met in the past 15 years or if they have, Hohenheim hasn't shared he had children now.

An easy way to think about Homunculi and Philosophers stones is that the Philosopher stone is like a battery and the Homunculi are smartphones. Whenever the phone dies, you can plug the phone into a powerbank and recharge it. You can do this a few times, but eventually your powerbank runs flat as well. "Father" has a battery as well except instead of a mobile power bank, he has one of those tesla industrial batteries that could power your house for a week. Whenever the Homunculi's stones run dry, they go back to father for a recharge. Its just that in Greed's case, Father decided to give his phone a factory reset.

This is just a minor thing but about Father "saying no" to Scar's Deconstruction. Ed did it too the last time they fought. Scar grabbed his arm to deconstruct it and Ed clapped his hands and simultaneously reconstructed it, canceling out Scar's attack. Father isn't God, nor do the homonculi consider him one. He's simply an incredibly knowledgeable alchemist.

22:23 Quite simple, really. 2H20 -> 2H2 +O2 via alchemy. Then, he struck metal against metal for a spark to trigger the inverse: 2H2 + O2 -> 2H20, which is a combustion reaction. Which is to say, an explosion. Edit: I paused the video when it happened to type this, and didn't see Envy confirm this is what happened.
