Right now we can pretend to be comfortable that the elites are at least being careful with the nukes, but one day it will be our job or our children's jobs or our grandchildren's jobs to apply to the CIA and the KGB and the CCP and take custody of the nukes. So that's why most fiction is about forcing kids to not be kids anymore. It's beyond "one day you have to get a job and pay mortgages". No matter how rich you get one day it's gonna be your ass on the line when the buck stops at you because you're one of the guys actually directly responsible for whether or not we have WW3 or not. That's why even the Ponies are showing Epic War to little girls in cartoons. Also anyone can be invaded any day of the year. Some places are less likely than others but due to alliances any nations 18 year olds can come up for the draft definitely. All that stuff was always going on in the background, kids just don't realize it because people don't want to tell them until they already know. Wartorn nations are a little more likely to know about advanced political nuances than prosperous ones because no amount of schooling can really replace the difference when you can't stop 5 yr olds in the Middle-East from knowing about oil anymore than you can stop American kids from knowing about Hollywood.

Fun thing: in the manga, yugi had ALREADY got his soul sucked out of his body by this point in the story. TWICE. Well, twice that i remember of. First one was when one weird kid challenged him to a weird chinese card game where the losers soul was sucked into a jar and eaten by dragons. Normal yugi fought him first and lost but then dark yugi won and got yugis soul back from the jar before it was digested. Second one was while fightind Dark Bakura for the first time, they were playing a tabletop RPG game. That was also the first time the two yugis gor to talk to each other, normal yugis sould was trapped inside a figurine and dark yugi kept playing in his stead
