He said the sounds "they” used lol wait til he finds out it's all Prince. Also the notes he calls "MJ" notes are not that all. Prince & MJ were deeply inspired by Little Richard, Stevie Wonder & James Brown. Those sounds go back way before MJ & Prince. They're imitating their heroes. Prince was his own Genre, he was more than pop, MJ was a Pop artist. Prince was a Musician.
@zazagirl3373 Жыл бұрын
Prince is our Mozart, he mastered over 14 instruments by age 17, he could dance, sing any note, rap, he wrote, arranged, performed ALL his music, including wrote hits for other artists, he has covered almost every genre, Metal, Punk rock, hip hop, pop, r&b, soul, jazz, blues, country, ambience, classical, tehcno, house, instrumental. The Multi-Genre God. He could play anything, and your favorite artists have been deeply influenced by him. Corey Taylor, Whitney Houston, Steve Vai, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Lil uzi vert, H.E.R. , Paul Mccartney, all worship Prince to just name a few. Prince recorded his first 2 albums at 16 all by himself, all instruments, lyrics, arrangement, composition & vocals were all by him. He was such a prodigy, that music executives wanted proof, they would fly across country just to see if he could really play all instruments, because it was so unheard of. Prince has over 50 official released albums and when he passed, they found over 10 thousand unreleased Prince music in his vault. He then came into the business and was the FIRST to fight for artists rights, and he WON. He would write "slave" on his cheek and go to meetings protesting against the industry. Prince was also one of the first artist to sell his music on the internet. You are talking about the most talented artist we will ever see.

The thing about Prince is that he was extraordinarily prolific, something like 40 albums spanning five decades, in fact Wiki has separate pages for single and album discographies. He also released material under pseudonyms as well as his own name, and worked with many other artists. I was never a big fan, although I liked this one, but I always thought Raspberry Beret was a very clever song and has (my favourite) strings attached.

I haven't heard this full album version in a while, and it has a lot of cool moments that the radio edit is missing. Prince was great at everything. Guitar, keyboards, programming new synth sounds, songwriting, production, he did it all. Even his songs that weren't hits on his own records were sometimes huge for other artists, like when the legendary Chaka Khan covered his song "I Feel For You" (with Stevie Wonder on harmonica, of all things).

When this song came out it paved the way for the future sound of popular music. There's no bass in the song. Prince popped it out at the last minute. Prince did make Rolling Stone top 100 guitarists in around 2005. I think they put him in about number 23, mainly as a result of the My Guitar Gently Weeps performance. They always overlooked him before that.

How he created such a devastating groove with just an 80s drum machine and lead vocals on top remains one of the great wonders. If you can do that, it’s easily understood why you would prefer the machine over a real drummer. In terms of programming drums, the guy is unsurpassed. Check out Alphabet Street for another (programmed) killer groove. It makes sense though, the guy always was the best musician in the room, regardless of what instrument he was playing.

C'mon dad. There's very good music after the 80's. 2) The video you're talking about was a tribute to George Harrison. While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Rock royalty completely eclipsed by Price. 3) Vast majority of the music you review is male. Lots of good female artists. 4) Nice seeing how you respect and seem to enjoy each other's company. It's what's charming about your channel. That's all.🎶

Funny you should say that, he died in 2016, and since the 89’s they never had Prince on the list if the legendary guitarist, they never put him on the list until only the decade before he died …

Rolling Stone Magazine back in 2004 or 2005 did a 100 greatest guitarists of all time and guess who they left off the list, you guessed it Prince was left off of the 100 greatest guitarists list of all time. That was a travesty, and the video you're talking about is While my guitar gently weeps with Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, and Prince at the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony. And on that stage is the reason why Prince went off the way he did playing his guitar because because Rolling Stone Magazine left him off of their list.

@Steve not sure you will see this, but can you tell me the genre of music you like? I think if you heard a Prince song that was that genre (he did most of them) that you might like it. Even if you don’t like Prince you could agree that he is very talented. My husband doesn’t care for Prince very much but I drug him to two concerts and he said they were the best he’s seen.

@@tracynorman1455 I have a very broad taste in music - from classical to hard rock. But that doesn't mean I like everything classical and everything hard rock. I also like some pop. There are few artists I really can't take but Prince , Bob Dylan and the Bee Gees make me cringe. Yet it is fair to say other artists have covered some of their work superbly - Bob Dylan's particularly. The best concert for me stood for many years - Emerson Lake and Palmer back in 1974. That has now been upstaged by Nightwish. It would be unfair if I were to state Prince's music is rubbish because that would be to insult those who think otherwise. He just isn't for me.
