Hi guys! I'm going to tell you something about myself. In the 70's (15 years old teenager) I was very immersed in disco music. Until I buy DP's "Machine Head" record. These Gentlemen opened my musical mind. The whole album is wonderful and I consider this song the icing on the cake. Thanks to DP then I discovered Led Zeppelin, AC DC and even my favorite band: Pink Floyd. Then I followed the path of Heavy Metal. All thanks to that wonderful album. Thanks for reacting to this great song.

Really great song, and a really good example of Purple showing just how well they could jam when they felt like it! Jon Lord's keyboards are superb and his virtuosity is as good as Blackmore's. Another great track by them is The Flight Of The Rat from the In Rock album. Blackmore's use of the wah-wah on the track is brilliant!🎸

Machine Head is an iconic album, not a bad song on it. I saw Deep Purple in '73 with the original lineup and in '76 after Tommy Bolin replaced Ritchie Blackmore and both were kick ass shows. You guys should check out Space Truckin' and Highway Star, they are both bangers. 👍🤘✌️

I also saw Deep Purple around the same time. It was at the Long Beach Arena, 1974 I think. The lineup: ELF (Dio), ELO, then DEEP PURPLE. Surprisingly, they have not reacted to anything off of MADE IN JAPAN. Nothing against these guys, but that is kind of a sin. In my head, if a reaction channel wants to get into DEEP PURPLE they should start with the live version of SMOKE ON THE WATER on the MADE IN JAPAN classic double album. That album is so historically significant because of the quality of the recording at the time, agreed? Further: most reaction channels I have checked out do not start with a band's first big hit song that got a ton of airplay. Why is that? This particular song is, indeed, a lot better live on the MADE IN JAPAN release. Also, this would be considered a traditional blues song by headbangers, HA. Maybe for harmonica reasons they may react to some Fabulous Thunderbirds. I am not holding my breath, however.

It's funny, my taste is closer to Ethan than Larry, and I'm older than Larry (I'm 55). I absolutely love this song. Of course, the first time I heard this I was around Ethan's age, but I never get tired of it. Larry might like it more after a few more listens, but I don't know. It never had to grow on me. I loved it from the first time I heard it. I'll bet if Larry had heard this as a teenager it would be a favorite.

That intro was epic, wasn't it? What a great song...I love Ritchie Blackmore's guitar work and those keyboards! I love the distorted keyboard sound they used. The duel between guitar and organ is classic in this band, but of course you might prefer the vocal work in which case you need to hear more from Ian Gillan, the vocalist. I think the same happened with Burn before. Perfect Strangers is one of the songs that Ian shines more than the instruments.

This was not quite what I expected from Deep Purple. I was beginning to think that the reason it's called Lazy is because they couldn't be bothered to write lyrics for it and come up with a good song title, and in the end they still hadn't done a lot of work on the lyrics, it was mostly an impressive jam session. Now that I'm awake... ... I think the only songs I know that you haven't done are Black Night and Smoke On The Water, although they have done a cover of Ike and Tina Turner's River Deep Mountain High, which might be interesting for a double header reaction? Don't forget to check out Deep Purple in Rock Family Trees - they have quite a complex history and many connections to other bands.

Deep Purple is so heavy on Pentonics . Sounds complicated but really it’s not that hard to play. Lots of Rhythm and Blues has this but it’s nice when musicians take to another degree

I would say that something like April or the Concerto (by Jon Lord) or Ritchie's fondness of Harmonic Minor modes (moreso in Rainbow, in all honesty) are another degree. To be fair, I think pentatonics do bring out the jam feeling more than some perfectly composed neoclassical melodies would, but to each their own.
