Hi there! Writer from story number 4! I screamed on my drive into work this morning when I heard my story being read! Yes I do have many more stories to tell about ghost encounters, and over all spooky behavior. I laughed when we got to the rocking chair part, it was quite ridiculous when it happened to me. I told this story to my students last year, and I have them again this year for Honors 10 English. I told them that you guys read my story, and they were so excited for it to be read, we listened to it. They also are now demanding I tell them more of my ghost stories on Halloween! Thanks for making a tired and English teachers morning.

@@Vampress09 I'm not a native so someone correct me if I am wrong but the whole point is to pretend they don't exist. Like, if you call it by name that attracts it to you. And the whole point is you didn't hear what you (hadn't) heard in the woods, you didn't see what you (hadn't) saw in the woods, etc. Etc. Not sure tho so do more individual research as needed, especially from the Navajo people (who are commonly associated with believing in/having knowledge about 'it').

When did she not believe him? All I heard was her being curious why he knew there were 4. Im curious too, and it seems odd he couldnt answer the question. She seemed quite believing to me, why else would she be so curious about the amount. It is wild how over the top affected she seems to get by random completely unverified stories submitted by strangers on the internet though.

Girl from story 2 here, hopefully clearing up some things: 1. From my understanding, my sister didn’t see anything, she heard my fiancées voice as if he was right beside her. I think it was realising when she turned to look at him and couldn’t find him, thinking he was right by her, that scared her so much she turned pale. 2. I said that this might not be as scary of a story because I didn’t see anything or hear anything unusual myself. 3. The apartment is still unoccupied (you’re welcome to go for it 💀) 4. I still feel like a crazy person talking about this because I can’t find any sense in it. I understand that there is so much in the world we don’t know or can explain. It’s just hard for me to believe in something I’ve never seen or heard. I do find it interesting and I don’t scare easily by ghost stories but I think that comes from not knowing wether they are real or not. At the end of the day I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m still trying to tell myself that I must have had an episode of SOMETHING to try to get passed this, as to not freak myself out even more, I can’t rationalise my sisters experience though… 😖 Thank you for featuring my story and making me feel less crazy/stupid. I Hope this cleared some things up, so sorry for the confusion. English is not my native language and I don’t have the best vocabulary 🤣🫶🏼

Your story was actually one of my favourites because I had a similar experience and it’s freaky af! I’ve learned since they’re called mimics, definitely scary.. Years ago my Mom sister and I were moving into a new apartment. My aunt was over to help. I ran down to my friends house for an hour or so because they were loaning me some stuff until we got more settled (parents had just separated and we didn’t take everything) As I’m there, about 3-4 blocks away, I get a call from my mom. Her and my aunt are freaking out. They said they’re outside looking up at my bedroom porch and asked “did you come back without us noticing and go upstairs?” I said no I’m still at my friends house I haven’t come back yet. They said they heard my voice, clear as day, calling them for help from upstairs. They knew I wasn’t there though so they ran outside immediately. It freaked us all out so much but my grandma has always been really into this stuff so we did our arch Angel Michael prayers every night and ignored absolutely everything. It got bored after a while and stopped trying

I think it's always good to go with a bad feeling, even if you don't know why. For both bits of the experience here it *could* be a haunted, sure. But it also sounds like there was a carbon monoxide leak. A 'bad feeling' tends to be the first sign, and auditory hallucinations can also be a sign. With how cheap the rent was, I bet the landlord wasn't keeping up the furnace properly. Getting out of there, regardless of if it was a ghost or not was a really good call.

My papa battled esophageal cancer for a few months and eventually ended up in a special care home towards the end. From there he went to a hospital several hours away from home. I wasn’t able to go say goodbye before he passed due to this. However, after getting the call from my mom in the middle of the night letting me know he passed, as I cried and went back to sleep, I heard him clear as day tell me “I’m ok babe.” And I was able to drift off to sleep peacefully knowing he wasn’t in pain anymore. My son who was 2 at the time saw him on his front porch swing a few times as well. ❤

In response to Jerry's angels: It reminded me of a time when my grandpa was in the hospital. He had prostate cancer. He was supposed to go through chemo when my parents and I went to visit him. The night before he was supposed to do his treatment he said he had a strange experience with the nurses. There were 2 or 3 nurses that came in the middle of the night. They were messing with some stuff around his midsection. He assumed they were changing out his catheter and changing the blankets out. He asked the nurses in the morning why they were dressed differently last night. They said nobody came in last night. When we got to the hospital Papa told us that he saw the nurses that night and they were wearing white dresses/robes. But all of the morning nurses said nobody came in the middle of the night. Anyway, he went for a scan that day to check on the cancer (I guess to recheck the severity or placement of it?) But they couldn't find any trace of it. They monitored him for a couple more days and again they found no trace of cancer. He got yearly checkups and there was never a trace of it. I felt like there were angels that let him stay with grandma and let him see our family through some big moments. He outlived grandma only by 2 years. He got to meet my babygirl at a month old. The cancer came back later that year and I guess it escalated quickly. He passed away just before babygirl's first birthday. I believe Papa and Grandma watch over my girl now

Speaking of guardian angels, my fiance swears I've got an overprotective one. Each time he playfully insults me he's immediately gets bad karma in the form of walking or bumping into something. I like to think its my Nan who died in 2016 when we were still dating. They never got to meet, and hes very good at collecting Nanas. I think she wouldve enjoyed his playfulness and they would have got on like a house on fire.

Talking about playing hide and seek with shadow figures, I used to do that when I was younger. I’m from Iceland so during winter mornings it is really dark out so when I was younger, like 6-10 years old, I could see into my dark living room when sitting at the kitchen table from behind the corner a shadow figure used to pop out or wave at me slowly while my mom sat across from me with her back turned towards the figure. I remembered this a couple of years ago and when I asked my mom about it she said she didn’t just remember it but that she was scared shitless by little me being terrified and telling her there is someone in the living room as I pointed behind her. She also said that my little brother just that year (he’s almost 15 years younger than me so he was like 4 or 5 years old at this time) that he didn’t want to go to bed because of the „bad man” under the bed. It freaked my mom out since it reminded her of when I was younger. I used to call her panicked when home alone when it was dark since I heard someone whisper my name or I would here other things when I was younger. I started seeing and hearing things again like 2-3 years ago and it made me feel terrified. My grandma was certain that I was a medium like my great grandmother and like my great grandfathers sister. But now when I look back at 22 years old and have gotten a OCD and bipolar 2 diagnoses (along with ADHD) I think I was just a young undiagnosed kid that had a bad brain that played tricks on me against my will and when I was older and hearing and seeing things it was most likely because I was on medication that made me very manic before I got my diagnoses. But it still makes me feel uneasy thinking about how I saw and heard things as a kid and it was so vivid when it happened. But we can’t get an answer for everything I guess.

I think morgan would really enjoy this sweet ghost story, so I'd like to share it: it was always my mom's dream to have horses, but her family could never afford them. so, when she finally started making her own money, her goal was to get a horse. she and my dad got married, had me and my sister, and my mom got her very own horse. safe to say, I've been surrounded by horses my entire life, and started riding when I was only 5. I was constantly told I was a natural rider, and I quickly progressed. it got to the point that I was too advanced to ride lesson ponies anymore, so when I was 9, my parents got me a pony of my own- tacoma. a 14.2hh, sassy, polka-dotted pony of the americas who hated everyone except for me. we called him taco, which fit his spicy attitude. he was a naughty little thing, but he always took care of me. fast forward 5 years, and we move into a house with a farm. at this point, I'm too tall to show taco anymore, so my parents move him home. I say hi to him every morning before school, and come home quickly after so I can take him out on the trails. after high school, we retired him at home, so I could see him every time I came back from college. during my junior year of college, taco got injured pretty badly. it was just around my 21st birthday, meaning 12 years of us being together. he somehow got stuck in between two paddock fences and cut his back leg down to the bone. we were fortunate enough to afford his hospital stay, and the recovery was slow. I would call my mom for updates, and it was always the same- he's doing well, it's just taking a while. I was busy with school, and I trusted that he was getting the best care, so I didn't spend much time worrying about him- I just assumed everything would be fine. one night, I had an extremely vivid dream. I was back at home, walking out of my front door and waving hi to taco in his paddock, like always. I walked down the pathway to him, and I said "hey buddy! what are you doing back home?" he put his forehead close to mine, and I heard a distant voice say "I just came to say goodbye." I pulled away, my hands still on his face, and asked "what do you mean goodbye?" I heard the distant voice say again, "I just came to say goodbye. I'll miss you." I started panicking in my dream, repeatedly asking "why?? where are you going? what's happening?" he leaned forward again and pressed his head against mine, and I immediately felt warm and calm. the voice said again, "I'll miss you." I hugged him tightly, smiling. "I'll miss you too," I told him. I woke up in a cold sweat. my heart was racing and I started panicking. it was morning, so I immediately called my mom. I asked her if tacoma was okay, and she responded "of course honey! why wouldn't he be?" I told her about my dream, and she just kept assuring me he was okay. but I couldn't shake the feeling- I was sad the entire day. I came home for break a few weeks later, and my mom had this look on her face. I just knew it. turns out, he had passed while I was away. my parents didn't want to tell me while I was at school, so they waited until break to tell me in person. he went very peacefully in his sleep, not a shaving out of place, no sign of pain. his heart just gave out. of course, I was heartbroken. but I just kept thinking about that dream. I've always been one to remember my dreams, but this one is different. it's been almost two years since he passed, and I can still remember the dream in perfect detail. I still remember how it felt to press my face against his, and feel okay. I miss him so much, and I know he misses me too. but I also know he's always with me, just a dream away.

The second to last story made me cry just like Morgan. For some back story on my life when I was 5 my mom passed away and I'd love to have that experience and talk to her again. Also a couple last things it's been 20 years since she died and on the 14th of this month it was her birthday she would have been 49. Ps something I've learned from losing my mom at such a young age is that life is fragile so tell the people around you that you love and care about them because the sad reality is that you don't know when it'll be the last time.

We are all very aware that we are not aline in our house but we also are aware that its familiar spirits, some passed pets as well. Anyway to the story. One night me and my bf were doing our nightime routine, brushing teeth, washing face etc. and we heard my cat, Nirvana, scratching at the shower curtain from the inside. This is very normal for him to do so we thought nothing of it and my boyfriend opened the curtain to shew my cat out of the tub, but my cat wasnt even in there. He wasnt in the bathroom at all. We just looked at eachother with wide eyes and finished what we were doing and went upstairs🤣😭😭😭

Hi fam, I was just listening to the spooky episode from THT. I couldn’t find the video on KZbin, but I wanted to share a wholesome dream visitation I’ve had. About four months ago, on my birthday I lost my fur soul baby. He was literally the best dog, and my truest friend. He was a rescue from big island Hawaii and I miss him so so much. The day after he passed I was praying and begging for a sign that we made the right decision to take his pain away. That night, he came to me in my dream. I was walking him in his favorite walking trail and he was so happy and acting like a puppy. I then was cuddling him in bed and he was doing his happy growl while I rubbed his ears in his favorite spot. I woke up and could have sworn this was real. It was such a relief to see him so happy and in his younger, pain free days. That was the very last time I had a vivid dream with him so clearly visiting me. Since then, I’ve seen him in my dreams a couple of times. But it’s just him in his normal spots sleeping and being happy boy. Thanks for being my favorite podcast and hope you enjoy this story as much as I enjoyed all of these!

Funny story: my boyfriend (now husband) and I went to see the first paranormal activity movie in theaters. We went to a late night showing and it was a good movie with all the jump scares. Well it was 1am when he dropped me off and I ran up to my bedroom as everyone else was asleep and before I could open my door it started shaking like crazy. So like any sane person I called my bf and said I was staying with him and ran up out of that house 😂 welp I called my mom in the morning and she laughed and told me that our old dog had gotten shut in my room and just wanted out 😂😂😂 I nearly peed my pants over a dog yall 🤦‍♀️

Fun Fact: In the paranormal community rocking chairs are considered to help get into a trance in order to be more open/vulnerable to communicate. I think it is because rocking chairs can increase energy levels through the consistent rocking motion, maybe the spirits in these stories need that energy to make themselves know.

Okay so this is my late write in🤣 I have SO many stories but about a year ago my bf and I went and did a paranormal investigation at the real conjuring house. It was absolutely wild! We stayed from 8pm-5am and there was definitely a spooky vibe the moment you get onto the property. Throughout the night different light fixtures would move and sounds were definitely heard all throughout the house. I can’t remember the actual name to the equipment but we used one of those boxes where it scans through radio stations and one person has headphones on while everyone else is asking the box questions. My bf had the headset on and was saying back the words that were coming through, when all the sudden he FLUNG the headset off and said “they screamed DIE” and at the exact same moment he heard those words the FULLY CHARGED CAMERA died👀 one of the spirit boxes also said my name. On the way out, I wanted to take a few pictures so I sat on the couch in the living area and had my bf take some pics, while looking back I noticed that the first picture was just me and nothing else, second picture there were two small bright lights that looked like eyes under the couch near my legs, the THIRD PICTURE there were two sets of glowy white eyes right next to my legs😨 boy do I have even more creepy stories from college if anyone is interested in hearing those as well!

So for story nine, I feel like when she had a dream saying goodbye to her grandpa that he finally felt like he could move on, and when he did, it allowed for the other entity to take sole residence and become awakened by the presence of the new wife. It’s hard to have a real idea of the story when you don’t have any other context or information of the family and the people in the house, but that’s how I saw it in my mind’s eye while y’all were reading it to me.

There’s also a possibility that she already had this entity with her, and when she entered into a relationship that seemed serious, as they had moved in together and then got married, It may have made the entity, jealous and mad. Of course, pure speculation. Who knows

I have a similar experience to Jerry's story at the end. My dad died fairly young and unexpectedly. He and my mom didn't have plots bought, but his older brother did. My mom bought the plots of him, sight unseen, knowing nothing about them except what cemetery they were in, and it was even one my immediate family hadn't been to. But the plots were available to her with little effort during a trying time and weren't in the one other cemetery in town, where we knew my dad didn't want to be burried for his own reasons. When picking out my dad's casket, we all felt drawn to this one that had a picture of three trees on the inside of the lid. There was no reason why, my dad wasn't an outdoorsy guy or anything, trees held no meaning to us, we just all felt drawn to that one. The day of his burial, we follow the herse into the cemetery...and right up to a plot under three trees. It was almost like a little sign he was okay with the choices we'd made in laying him to rest and approved of the plot we'd all but been forced to take. When we commented on it afterwards, my uncle said he thought we knew about the trees and assumed that's why we chose the casket we did.

a month or so ago I experienced a "something behind the shower curtain" event, right as I was coming in to use the toilet. It was this intense rattling, with the curtain half open, which is how I leave it. This resulted in me deciding to use the other bathroom in the house, only to discover that it was being used and I wasn't willing to let paranoia make me wait to use a bathroom I'm not supposed to be using in the first place. So I went back, and found that a mouse was trying to climb its way up between the inner and outer lining of the curtain. I thanked it for the unpleasant scare by bludgeoning it to death with my shampoo bottle. Turns out I was the real terror all along
