Who in the world wouldn’t love to have Kimberly Jolly do a video on their book? Just marvelous. I love how you always go the extra mile, for example, showing us each quilt as made, and each photo in the book. This woman can sell, and thank goodness for it, because many of us need to buy online for many reasons so having someone willing to really go in-depth is critical to getting me to the point where I can buy with confidence. I love, too, how you mention where to use my Triangles on a roll or a Cake Mix so you can really make the best quilt possible.

One by Two is probably my favorite. Love a simple, and scrappy quilt.

This video, is another reason why Fat Quarter Shop stands head and shoulders above the rest. I never hesitate to recommend Fat Quarter Shop when someone needs to shop online for a quilting project. That said, I will definitely be buying this book. I need another quilting book, like I need another hole in my head, but now I have to have it, 😂😂😂.

So fun! I am often pulled to a quilt by their fabric choices and especially color. So I prefer more plain patterns that show off those fabrics and color. So my two favorites are the Christmas quilt and the stripes. Oh to be as talented as these two and their two long armers!

I am enjoying your review of this book. Obviously I am just starting to watch but I feel that I need to share that I almost didn't watch because I rarely buy books. That said, I love the addition of embroidery and the inclusion of which fabrics worked and more importantly which ones didn't and why. I see a new book in my future.

On the 2nd quilt, where embroidery was included, was the quilt top embroidered or were all three layers done so that it showed up on the quilt back also?

It looked to me, like it was just the top.

Why is there so little hand quilting shown? I've noticed this with other tutorials. I find the process of hand quilting a quilt very relaxing. I would not want to send my pieced quilt top to a machine quilter to do the most important step of making a quilt my own. Just wondering.
@FatQuarterShopTX2 жыл бұрын
Hello Karen! This trunk show is featuring quilts from Lissa Alexander and Susan Ache. We do not show hand quilting because Kimberly prefers to send her quilts to a longarmer but that's just her personal preference.

I don't have suggestions for a book but Kimberly does have a fantastic youtube series on making your first quilt. I would also recommend Donna Jordan's youtube videos Donna has several patterns that are free and she shows how to make the quilts. Hope this helps.

I love this video, trunk shows are always appreciated. I don't have a knack for using colors, your video serves to inspire and exposing me the new quilter to a varied color pallet. i hBe watched this video at least 3 times.
