Happy Fatwood Friday.
This week I am burning off the last lot of gifts from Jason thanks, mate. This is Shlisa Shell Michigan Gold Red Pine USA fatwood.
I am using my 10" Ferro rod and HSS 8% cobalt striker to light it.
I used my Smiths PackPal to make the shavings, a plane to make the larger shavings, and my FabKreations manger to burn my fatwood.

I used to gather fatwood by the truckload from Capitan Mountain. Kept telling the U.S. Forest Service that they'd better allow wood cutting up there for free ( cost wasn't the issue. It was that you had to go to an office to get the permit). Many miles away. Finally one year we had a lighting strike and it lit up. The Forest Service in all there wisdom decided to let it burn. Then it got WAY out of control. GOSH, I wonder why? It completely destroyed that mountain. It will take 100 years or more for it to return to the beauty it had in the 1960's. But.... I did my share to protect it for 30 years. Happy Fatwood Friday Dean.
