When the stove is in use is there a depth of oil evenly spread over the base of the pot, or does the oil vaporise and burn immediately as it enters the pot, which would mean that the pot is for the most part dry during operation ? If there is an even depth of oil in the pot what depth is it ?

There should be absolutely no oil puddle in the bottom of the pot ever. If there is soak it up and start the lighting procedure again. The oil goes from liquid to gas the second it enters the hot burner pot. The trick is in getting the pot hot enough to begin with for this to happen.

To start my oil vaporizing burner, I always start the stove with a couple ounces of pure ethanol alcohol. Once most the alcohol has been consumed, I turn on the oil. Easy, sootless startup every single time.

Where exactly should the thermal couple sensor be place? Surely the heat vent could exceed the temp of the the auto shutoff?!
