Hi Mick, Excellent job! I'm happy to see it working. I must say, I was a bit worried you'll find something obvious straight away and get it fixed in 5 min while I spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong with it. I managed to get it apart right to the main board, tested the motor, switches, etc. That lid switch tested OK, but didn't think to check for loose connection between the plug and the board. I also wonder if I managed to break that opto sensor when poking around and the loose connection was the original fault. Looking forward to next videos. Thanks again, Piotr

I suspect the one and only original fault was the motor rotation sensor. The subsequent issues down to fragile connectors and pulling on the wires to remove them, compounded by the previous attempts at repair before you got it leaving the mechanism in an unknown state. Not knowing how the thing is supposed to function also made your life way harder. I have one of these so I know what it's supposed to do - always a huge advantage when fault-finding. 10/10 for persistence!!

Mick! You must have the patience of a saint! It reminds me of HP printers I encountered back in the 90’s! Over engineered and plastic catches used to drive me mad! Before that the machines had metal chassis like the big Canon’s 700,900,1100! Metal screws held the thing together! The HP printers were plastic panels with catches that would break after maybe removed 3 times! It was like a wrestling match to get the bloody things off! Then with the struggles the scanner optics would go off alignments as well as the lasers alignment! They weren’t cheap either - the bigger 😢machines were well over a £1000 and the technicians got all the flak from the customers about the cost of consumables- toner, drums etc! I was glad when the firm I was with stopped doing their contract! I think everything nowadays is going this plastic panels/catches!😂 Fraser

They are all plastic now with nylon gears! Lubricant only with silicone grease/oil ! Apparently hydrocarbons rot the nylon and they split? I have seen gears split in them ! They also use a lot of solenoid clutches as well in case of paper jams ! The clutch slips at a set torque to save gears / motors from burning up! This information was given to me from Canon! Apparently Canon make a lot of printers , fax m/c’s etc for HP! 😂Fraser

@@carltonlane8931 Thanks 👍I've just made myself a coffee with a jar of instant and a kettle 😂😂😂The pods for these are quite expensive but I bought some to test it on the video, and after they ran out I've not used it since 😂😂

Cool video. I'm now even happier that I'm content with black coffee. 😂

Thanks👍The coffee it makes is black, even though it doesn't look it coming out. You have to add your own milk.

All of that to make coffee... hope this is "perfect coffee". Good job anyway ! For my part, I will stick to my old, trusty and analog "filter" coffee machine x)

Yes after I use the rest of the pods I bought I'll probably be reverting back to my kettle and some instant coffee 😂😂😂👍

@@BuyitFixit x) instant coffee is a bit extreme solution but less prone to fail in any case ! 😆

We used to have a pod machine but the prices of the pods just kept going up and up and it became very expensive so we invested in some cafetieres but my youngest kept dropping them and they weren't cheap so now we have one cafetiere left and I invested £8 in a 1970's Russell Hobbs Wedgewood coffee percolator with a matching milk jug which warms and froths the milk up and its an absolute trooper. I also invested in a cheap coffee grinder as beans are cheaper than grounds, 20 secs on the button, tip it into the perc's basket and let it do its funny noises and it stays hot unlike the cafetiere and doesn't get that bitterness at the bottom the cafetiere gets if its stood a bit. Ironically, the percolator was built in the factory alongside the hospital I was born in south London albeit a few years before, adding to that one of my prized multimeter's is a Cropico Normatest which was built in the factory other side and its build date is the same as me birth date so whilst me mum was giving it rizz and screaming like billy o, a chap was putting together my multimeter next door hehe

Yes, I've got two other pod machines. We used to use them at lot but as you say the price of pods makes them very expensive to use so they are now just sat in a cupboard. Interesting story btw, thanks for sharing 👍

I am great at taking apart things, and an absolute mess putting them all back together (do they work) lol. Very complicated. I am curious, what is your background? Electronics repair? you seem very knowledgeable with different circuits and smt parts and the way power supllies work. (just curious)

Good discoveries, odd that the opto was cracked. All that complexity, yet it heats up with no water in it. Maybe Clooney will send you his stalled scooter.

Thanks, could have been from the factory or possible damaged when Piotr looked at it 🤷♂
