VP casually flexing his PHD in geology with all that crystal knowledge in the clip, very based and cool
@VPCh.19 сағат бұрын
@luka188 Not quite a PhD. My school does it a bit weirdly, so my current thesis is sort of in-between undergrad and masters. Most people alternate terms working and doing their thesis, while still taking courses. I've considered doing a PhD, but I'm not sure it's really a good plan. I'll probably wait and see what the demand for geologists is like then when I get to that stage.

@@VPCh. do you have videos about geology?

@joshsowa6803 Not yet, although creating a side channel to make educational videos is something I'd like to do eventually.

I might have gone a bit overkill with the geology notes... Geology and vtubers are my two biggests interests, I'm usually working on my thesis (metamorphic petrology) or working as a geologist outside of clipping, so having them talk about geology related things is a double win for me.

never overkill!

Thanks for the rock facts. I like it very much. I appreciate the work you did on the clip.

Good luck with your thesis. It's always great to see a clipper who can bring more content to a clip than what one can get just from the raw footage.

"yeah you put the rose quartz in sunlight" geologist notes: "DO NOT put rose quartz in sunlight"
@VPCh.11 сағат бұрын
I have to wonder if it was a scam by the seller to get people to buy more. Like "your quartz faded? that just means it absorbed a lot of negative energy, you should buy another one to replace it".
@jayayywhy437410 сағат бұрын
@@VPCh. seems like it honestly, like those rings that break if you "absorb too much negative energy" but theyre actually made of some brittle metal
@VPCh.7 сағат бұрын
@jayayywhy4374 Hematite rings I think. They break down quickly when exposed to the salt and water from your sweat.

rainbow + "popular with men" makes me think it was bismuth. Bismuth is cool and the square spirals feel kind of techy/sci-fi which I could see as being a "guy crystal" type of thing.

today I learned the mantle isn’t primarily all magma
@VPCh.12 сағат бұрын
Nope, that's actually a super common misconception that was taught incorrectly in a lot of schools. 95% of the earth is solid, aside from a bit of the outer core. Even though it's hot, the extreme pressure pushes the molecules together enough to keep it as a solid. Volcanoes and magma pockets form when there is a drop in pressure (often near areas of uplifting rocks or plates that are spreading apart).

Ah, yes, expose the rose quartz to sunlight so it loses its color and you have to buy a new one. Those sellers trying to be slick, huh?

Igneous and metamorphic petrology giving me PTSD flashbacks. Much preferred large-scale structures, myself, couldn't care for the mineralogy 😅 that being said it was definitely cool to see a phase diagram next to chuubas!
@VPCh.12 сағат бұрын
@@metalninja2474 Yeah, that's fair. Petrology starts to turn into chemistry and thermodynamics once you look deep enough at it, and that's not for everyone.
