Personally I would prefer the needle, as it is much more smoother to the ear and takes less time for the ear to heal. The gun punctures your ears and can make in very painful, it’s also a sound thing for me.. I’ve always hated it! If your thinking of getting a simple earlobe peircing or your 2 Nd’s done, I would definitely recommend a needle! 😙

The gun is also more painful than the needle, since the needle is incredibly sharp and goes through the skin quickly and pretty painlessly. My daughter who is deathly afraid of needles had no problem at all when she decided she wanted her ears pierced at the age of 9. I took her to a professional piercer and they did an amazing job...she didn't even flinch.

@@zoefoley6818 It's more sterile, less painful, and the people are trained. You cannot sterilize a gun. Getting it done by a professional will cost more, but you will have better advice and a better chance of healing properly.

Bruh I got my ears pierced twice with guns at clairs and the first time I didn’t even feel it, but the second time it hurt like hell. xVirtueToVice It can cause infection for one. And a hollow needle isn’t “jabbed” through the earlobe like the piercing in this video. Its slowly and precisely introduced so theres less trauma to the tissue. I also believe that because piercing needles are hollow and angled, vs. these weird spiked solid bar earring contraptions that get forced through the lobe, healing and scar tissue are minimized.

Kids can't get body piercings or tattoos in shops until they're 18 in my state, not even with parental consent. I think depending on the shop they're allowed lobe piercings at 13. My step sisters both got their noses pierced by my half sister under the age of 18.

Better title: why you shouldn’t get piercings at a doctor, and why even Claire’s is better than a doctor at this. Go to a tattoo shop and get the needle piercing from someone who knows what they’re doing. A doctor doesn’t magically have a specialization in body piercings just because they got a stupid degree that shows they can use injection needles.

To anyone who is afraid- It’s perfectly normal to be scared, even if you really want to do it. Getting my second earlobe piercing just above my first holes, and let me tell you, the first time I got my ears pierced at the doctors I didn’t feel a thing. They numb your ears. Just remember, it’s gonna be over in two seconds and then you will look badass! Good luck!

I remember my ear piercing well because all the doctors and nurses were laughing at my reaction. I was around 9 and they told me it didn’t hurt. 2 of them did my ears at the same time so after that, I got up, cupped my ears and started dancing to a beat and saying “ow” in the quietest way, because it huuuurt. 😂😂 no tears, just did that for a good 10 mins to distract myself from the pain.😂 my mom still laughs every time anyone mentions ear piercing.

it's not blunt force trauma as it is the same as piercing it with a needle. If it was an actual piercing gun that would be a different story. Especially since it's not cartilage there is very little risk of any huge trauma around the ear. If you pierce your ear with a gun on cartilage there is a chance you could shatter the cartilage and the cartilage may collapse resulting in a funny looking ear.

Since when do doctor's do piercings 😂 Doctor's are not trained to do piercings. They're not trianed on placements, the proper angles or the proper methods. You should never use piercing guns/puncture tools. You should always use a hallow needle. The hollow needs create space for the jewelry. Piercing guns or puncture tools pierce using bluntforce trauma and force the jewelry into the tissue without creating space for the jewelry.

Actually alot of professional places use the gun e.g. pharmacy, beauty salons and doctors. It's quicker, less scary for the patient (than seeing a hot needle about to prick them) and less messy.

As a professional freehand body piercer, this is insane. Shoving that blunt end through the ANY tissue extremely traumatic. It will cause a lot more bleeding & swelling, as well as unnecessarily extending the healing time. A clean incision with hypodermic needle at the same diameter as the jewelry post, is most ideal.

Agree! We took my 15 year old to a tattoo/piercing shop for her second holes and cartilage. She said it just pinched but didnt hurt. When my 7 year old is ready, I will only trust a professional piercer. So much cleaner too.

Jutsu Coconut sterility isn’t the only issue. there’s also the issue of the piercing implement itself. while a needle smoothly takes out a piece of skin which is then replaced with jewellery, a piercing gun just shoves the skin aside causing blunt force trauma and excess scar tissue. the earrings in piercing guns are also a lot shorter than stainless steel or titanium bars used by professional piercers. this is an issue because all piercings should start off with a ‘swell bar’, a bar that is longer than a regular earring to allow for swelling. piercing gun earrings are too short and don’t allow for swelling, which can cause the back of the earring to dig into the skin, sometimes it will even become fully embedded in the skin and require surgery to remove.

I got my ears pierced with an actual needle but first the sterilized it, then dipped it in a numbing goo so it won't leave a reaction or hurt, and just have it go through the ear smoothly. To be fair, I got my ears pierced at a tattoo shop.

I was so scared of getting my ears pierced! For me my sister got hers done first, I really wanted them but I was so scared so I started crying, we were at a mall so we were walking around with me screaming. (I was 3/4 yrs old) we went home and I was so jelous of my sister. But too scared to get my ears pierced. My dad said we could go back and see what the earrings look like on my ears. So he took my back to the mall. He asked to ladies to put the earring guns up to my ears to see how they look. Then he whispered something to both of them. Two seconds later I had earring in my ears. And wow did it surprise me! But I don’t regret it. Now today I’m getting my double Peircing!

Omg I’m a male and the first time I got my ear pierced I was about 10/11 and in Portugal they do it differently the dude pointed a gun at my ear and next thing I knew the piercing was in my ear and was happy but months go by and my Nan took it off me cause she didn’t like it
