Aaron Gibson you're going to have to prime the joint compound using a good quality primer I would use Zinser 123

Do you not recommend using Plaster of Paris for this type of project??
@emilycooper4488 жыл бұрын
Hi Ron, I love this and am going to try it. I have a few questions. Can I use the Faux Plaster directly over the paint that I have on the wall - which is a semi gloss water base paint, or do I have to paint a base? Also in spots I'm going to add the brick behind the wall look - that was on your other video. I know to put the base on first so I can apply the glaze for the mortar look - right? For the glaze color I love the yellow brick glaze and mocha brown and will probably do that, but what colors would I do if I wanted to make it have that soft clay wall look ?- not too dark on the terra cotta (clay) color. What is your email so I can email you directly - I didn't see it... Thanks so much, Ellen

@RonaldLayman8 жыл бұрын
install wallpaper liner paper first, if you change your mind it can be removed easily, just hang the liner paper properly.
@Miss_Maggie8 жыл бұрын
+Ronald Layman Wow, what a clever idea! I was thinking: Once you do this to your wall, that's it. Hang wall paper (properly) over it! Ta-dah! Love it! 👍🏻
@itsahellofaname8 жыл бұрын
He isn't saying to wallpaper over this finish....I think he's saying put wallpaper liner paper on the wall first (as a backing), then do this faux finish over that, and if you want to remove this faux finish some time later you just peel the paper liner off.

This plaster and joint compound are very similar. Both are gypsum based but durabond will be much closer to Plaster than easy-sand. Don't spend money on these crazy expensive products, try something cheap and accessible first.
